7 Week Wax Carving Course

Over seven weeks of hands-on sessions, you’ll learn how to carve intricate designs from wax and see them transformed into solid silver or gold pieces. This is a supportive, low-pressure environment where you can switch off from the daily grind and focus on creating something truly one-of-a-kind.Your teacher, Steve, will guide you through every stage of the process, from the first mark on the wax to the final polish of your cast metal. You'll start by getting familiar with specialized tools and different types of wax, ensuring you have a solid foundation before moving on to your own projects. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refresh your skills, you'll receive plenty of encouragement as you bring your creative visions to life.Throughout the weeks, you'll have the space to experiment with various carving techniques and refine your designs. After a short break to allow for the professional casting process, you'll spend the final session cleaning and finishing your jewellery, learning how to achieve a professional look.

• Week 1 – Introduction to tools and how to choose and modify them, different types of wax, equipment lists, and links. You will try out a few basic carving techniques using several pieces of equipment. The session will end with Steve talking you through some aspects of the design process, so you can start getting design ideas ready for session 2.
• Weeks 2–6 – Designs, supported carving, and preparing to send to casters.
• 1-week break – A gap in the schedule to allow time for casting.
• Week 7 – Cleaning up castings and finishing jewellery.
