Build your painting skills and confidence, gain inspiration, and develop your creative style in this 6-week oil painting evening course designed for beginners and improvers alike. Experiment with different techniques and create your own artworks in a guided and supportive environment at our Staple Hill studio.
This course is perfect for beginners in oil painting or for those wanting to revisit the building blocks of painting, including brushwork, composition, colour, tone, and form. You will be working from still life in the studio and taking inspiration from successful painters in this genre. In the first two lessons, you will explore composition and tone through small studies, first in charcoal and then in monochrome oils. As you build confidence, you will experiment with colour mixing, with the goal of producing at least one final colour still life composition.
The full course schedule will be sent to you on booking, or if you would like a copy beforehand, please drop us a message. You will be asked to bring a materials pack (approximate cost £50). We will provide a table easel for you to work with, or you are welcome to bring your own, along with odourless thinners, linseed oil, jam jars, and dipping pots.
