6 Week Beginners Silver Jewellery Making Course

Fancy learning the foundations of silver jewellery making in Richmond and gradually building the skills to design and create your own pieces? Join us for this hands-on, progressive course that guides you from the basics of silversmithing through to making a fully self-designed jewellery piece, all in a friendly, well-equipped studio setting.This course is designed to be supportive and accessible, with plenty of hands-on guidance throughout. Everything is taught step by step, so even complete beginners can feel confident working with tools, metal, and techniques as the weeks progress.What to expect:Week 1 – Foundations of SilversmithingCreate a copper ring band and a silver ring band while learning core techniques including sawing, piercing, hammering, annealing, patinating, and basic soldering.Week 2 – Developing Soldering SkillsMake another silver ring band while learning drop casting and sweat soldering techniques.Week 3 – Bangle MakingDesign and make a silver bangle using the techniques developed in the earlier weeks.Week 4 – Earrings or PendantDesign and create either a simple hammered pair of earrings or a pendant, choosing your own texture and finish.Weeks 5 and 6 – Your Own DesignTwo full sessions dedicated to designing and making your own jewellery piece, with one-to-one guidance as you bring together everything learned so far.By the end, you'll leave with a strong foundation in jewellery making and a collection of finished pieces you’ve created yourself, including copper and silver rings, bangles, and either earrings or a pendant, plus your own unique designed piece. You’ll also gain the confidence and knowledge to continue making jewellery independently, with advice available on setting up a home jewellery bench if you wish to keep going!

• All materials included for weeks 1–4 (silver, copper, solder, gas).
• Guidance on materials needed for weeks 5–6 (materials purchased separately).
• Leave with multiple finished jewellery pieces, including your own original design!
• Cake and refreshments provided.
• Small group teaching with access to custom-made jewellery benches.
• Use of all tools and equipment, including hand and simple power tools.
