Want to brighten up your space with handmade homewares or create unique gifts for Mum this Mother's Day? This introductory class will show you the basics of traditional lino printing onto fabric to create your own striking designs on a tote bag and tea towel. Hosted by local artist Suzanne Kemplay, you'll explore ways of creating simple images and bold patterns using these time-honoured printing techniques.
Lino cutting is a fantastic introduction to the world of printmaking, requiring minimal space and no expensive equipment to achieve really eye-catching results. During this class, you'll enjoy expert demonstrations from Suzanne outlining all the techniques and tools you'll be using before it's your turn to get hands-on as you create your own design, etch it into your lino, and finally print it onto your fabric.
Don't worry if this is your first time trying printing, as Suzanne will be on hand throughout the session to share the benefits of her experience with tips and feedback. You'll leave the class with your unique handmade tote bag and tea towel, as well as the skills and confidence to carry on printing at home if you wish. Whether you're coming along solo or bringing a few pals, you'll love the creative release of crafting personalised homewares with your own two hands.
