Galaxy Spider Family Paint Party

Enjoy some Halloween fun at this paint party at Highwoods Community Centre in Colchester.

2 hours Class size 1 to 20 guests

£22 (£22 for Child space; £22 for Adult space)

Join this Galaxy Spider Family Paint Party at Highwoods Community Centre in Colchester for a spooky-cute bit of Halloween fun, perfect for getting little ones (and big ones!) into the creative spirit ahead of the big night.
Kids will love bringing their own out-of-this-world spider to life with paint, guided step by step so there's no pressure and plenty of room for their own creative touches. Aprons and all equipment are provided, so there's no need to worry about mess – just turn up ready to get stuck in. Partway through, everyone's treated to refreshments and a snack, giving little artists (and their grown-ups) a well-earned break before finishing off their masterpiece.
It's a lovely one for parents to join in too – feel free to book yourself a spot and get painting alongside your child, or simply drop off and collect later, whichever suits your afternoon best. Once the painting's done, kids can let off some steam in the soft play area while you gather everyone's things ready for pick-up.
By the end, you'll have a gorgeous Halloween keepsake to take home and proudly display, plus a fun-filled afternoon of family memories behind you.

About Me – Dawn Humberstone
Founder of Magenta Moon Art
Hello! I’m Dawn — the artist and creative heart behind Magenta Moon Art, where I host joyful paint parties, sip & paint evenings, family workshops and after-school art clubs across Essex.
How It All Started
Art has always been part of who I am. I was the child who was happiest with a paintbrush in hand and glitter somewhere nearby! But the real turning point came when I realised something powerful — art isn’t just about creating something beautiful… it’s about how it makes people feel.
I saw adults walk into a paint night saying, “I’m not creative, ” and leave two hours later glowing with pride, holding a painting they never thought they could do. That moment — seeing confidence spark in someone — is what truly ignited Magenta Moon Art.
What started as a passion has grown into a thriving creative business hosting paint parties at wonderful venues, community spaces, restaurants and schools.
Why I Love Teaching
I don’t just teach painting — I teach belief.
My sessions are designed so that absolutely anyone can succeed, whether you’ve never picked up a brush or you paint regularly. I break everything down into simple, step-by-step guidance in a relaxed, encouraging atmosphere.
I love watching:
  • The nervous laughter at the beginning
  • The focus and “quiet zone” halfway through
  • The proud smiles and photos at the end
Teaching allows me to combine creativity with connection — and I truly believe art should be accessible, joyful and a little bit magical.
Experience & Community
I currently run:
  • Large paint parties for adults
  • Family-friendly creative events
  • Private birthday & hen celebrations
  • Corporate team-building workshops
  • After-school art clubs (including running a thriving club with nearly 30 children)
I’ve taught hundreds of students of all ages and abilities. My sessions are welcoming, inclusive and designed to make people feel comfortable from the moment they arrive.
Something You Might Not Know About Me
I’m obsessed with colour — especially pinks, magentas, vibrant blues and sunshine yellows. If it sparkles, I probably love it.
But beyond the glitter and fun, I care deeply about creating a safe, positive space where people can switch off from busy lives and reconnect with their creativity.
Many people arrive at my events feeling stressed or unsure of themselves — and leave feeling lighter, more confident and genuinely proud. That transformation never gets old.
My Approach
Every design I create is carefully developed to be:
  • Beginner-friendly
  • Visually striking
  • Step-by-step achievable
  • Perfect for social sharing (because we love a photo moment!)
Magenta Moon Art isn’t just about painting — it’s about atmosphere, connection, laughter and creating memories.
If you’ve ever said, “I can’t paint” — you’re exactly who I created this for.
