Explore the vibrant technique of gelli printing in this enjoyable workshop, perfectly designed for beginners with no prior experience needed. If you're looking for a new creative outlet, this activity is a fantastic way to learn how to produce beautiful, unique prints in a relaxed and encouraging setting.
In this class we will uses plants to create botanical themed prints. This playful session is your chance to learn how to create an array of one-of-a-kind prints. You'll have a fantastic time as you experiment with:
  • Various textures to create interesting backgrounds and effects.
  • Stencils to produce defined shapes and patterns.
  • Layering colours and designs to add depth and complexity to your work.
You’ll discover that gelli printing is a wonderfully engaging, enjoyably messy, and delightfully absorbing process. This workshop is all about experimentation and embracing the spontaneous results that make each print special.
You'll finish the workshop with a wonderful collection of your own gelli prints and a stimulating rush of new creative ideas to explore further, feeling uplifted by your artistic achievements.
Workshop Tutor - Michaele Wynn-Jones
Art Facilitator, Contemporary Artist and Maker
Michaele is a multi media artist. Coming from a teaching background, she has always created art but didn’t go to art school until attending in Scotland in 2017 and 2018. In 2019 she was accepted to study for an art MA at Brighton University. She is represented by the Patterson Gallery and her work has sold in the UK, Holland and Canada.

This is a beginner friendly class, no prior knowledge is needed.
What to bring
Wear clothes that you don't mind getting paint on. Gel painting is fun but can be a bit messy.
Location

Maker Studio - 52 Ocklynge Road, Eastbourne

There is on street parking around the studio. We’re a 5-minute taxi or bus ride from Eastbourne Station, or a 15–20 minute walk through gorgeous Gildredge Park (look out for the legendary Horse Mound). Regular buses from the town centre (routes 1, 1A, 12, or X1) stop near Waitrose or The Lamb in Old Town — just a short walk to the studio. Taxis are easy to find at the station and cost around £5–£10.

Martin is an award winning creative director and designer who keeps everything looking beautiful.
At Maker Studio, we run all kinds of creative workshops including crochet, printmaking, art and writing, taught by an inspiring mix of artists and makers. Whether you are a complete beginner, a confident crafter or bringing the kids, there is something for everyone.
Our shop is filled with yarn, threads, tools and kits so good you will want to take one of each home. We mix our favourites with finds from independent makers and our own range of crochet kits designed right here in Eastbourne. Come and say hello, we would love to meet you.
