Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

Debbie is always welcoming & gets involved with the children as they play. we love these workshops excellent value for money.

Attended with my friend as we were both eager to learn to crochet. Sarah was very helpful and informative, patiently teaching us the basic steps to get us underway. We learned how to make a chain, double and triple crochet chains. When we were struggling Sarah, showed us where we were going wrong and how to remedy it. The session was in the middle of the store, we were provided with precise instructions to take away with us aswell as the basic equipment to get us started with our projects. We both felt it was very good value for money and would attend other workshops in the future.

Beginners class in using a sewing machine and how to prep it.
My teacher Debbie, was polite and thorough in her instructions. Very friendly and gave me good pointers on how to use the machine. I took away more knowledge, gained confidence, and enthusiasm to try what i have learnt from Debbie back home on my machine. I had a go on the machine with Debbie tutoring and helping when I needed it. Good value for money and I will be using the classes again in the future. I gained knowledge and im not as fearful to use my complex sewing machine anymore. Thank you Debbie, really enjoyed the class.

We had a brilliant time with Mel - she was really friendly, loads of fun & brilliant with the kids. Mel explained all of the stages clearly and had plenty of materials on hand to help us make bonnets.

The venue was good & well lit, we got some great ideas from Mel & thought the session was excellent value for money

The workshop was brilliant, well organised and provided all materials needed. The lady that ran the workshop was lovely and gave my son different techniques while he painting. I would say though athe workshops need better advertisement I didn't realise Hobbycraft did workshops until I received an email about them. There were several customers that asked about the workshop while it was happening. Maybe some leaflets or even posters to help promote this part of Hoobycraft chain.

My sister and I booked onto the Beginners Crochet Workshop. Our teacher Gemma was excellent, she was very patient and enthusiastic. She taught us the basics and gave us lots of hints and tips to take our new hobby forward. Once we have practiced our newly learnt techniques we would like to return for another workshop in the future. The materials provided, i.e. wool, crochet hook and worksheets were very good. The venue was ideal and welcoming, with the workshop being towards the back of the store, although we did get a few interruptions being in an open area. The time seemed to go very quickly and we particularly liked the fact that we felt comfortable and at ease learning something new.

Gemma was lovely, very patient and positive throughout. She had chosen nice complimentary colours of good quality yarn and taught me several stitches. She explained what the stitches are called in patterns and suggested websites that could be useful in the future. I think if there were more people it would have been difficult for me to pick up, 1-1 was ideal. The only slight downside was that the shop was a bit cold!

I had a lesson this afternoon with Debbie. Debbie was very friendly and I felt comfortable as soon as I met her. She asked what I hoped to expect from our session. As I had recently bought a sewing machine I wanted to gain some confidence and my way around actually using it. Debbie started by threading the machine and then I followed her instructions and threaded the machine myself. I had a practice using different techniques and dials on the machine. Debbie offered good tips and advice to get the best from my machine. I really enjoyed my time at Hobbycraft this afternoon and I’m so grateful to Debbie for her help and advice. I would certainly recommend to anyone to sign up for courses and I would love to do another one in the near future.

Meg was brilliant. She asked what I wanted to learn about and I told her I was thinking of buying a crocus machine but unsure which would be best for me. She talked me through the different features and I found her very helpful. The only negative was that the Wi-Fi in the building was very slow.

The Tutor was really welcoming and helpful she supported me as i have problems
with my hand and showed me different ways of making a bow.
The venue was good I learned new techniques when wiring up and in bringing colour to my arrangement

Gemma was lovely. She was very patient with me. I couldn’t hold the yarn the way she explained but I found my own way which felt comfortable.
Even thou I made quite a few mistakes she was very encouraging.
I carried on practicing when I got home. However I’m struggling with what to do with the second row as I started a new piece. But I will work it out. There was so much to remember!
Overall I enjoyed my experience!

GEMMA THE TEACHER WAS VERY WELL INFORMED ABOUT CROCHET AND DIFFERNT TYPES OF STITCHES. SHE INITIALLY SHOWED US THE STITCHES AND THEN TOOK IT IN TURNS WITH EACH OF THE PUPILS TO SHOW US INDIDUALLY.

I did ask for design space also how to do logos when it asks you what you want to know

But unfortunately Mel could not show me how it’s done due to no printer on sales floor

Did talk me through it but didn’t really understand
So I was disappointed as that was the real reason I went for

Did show me how to group weld etc
But again I would of personally have liked to do it a few times to get the hang of it

Then print on card I was given a chance to do that

But shame didn’t get any where doing logos as it’s a store who sells n helps you with one to one for further understanding on your Cricut machine

But didn’t get that n was told to go on You Tube to look into it further which I knew any way but wanted 1-1 for better understanding!

Otherwise Mel was lovely n polite
& did ask me if there was any thing else

Really enjoyed the lesson though an hr is not enough for the whole alphabet. Not 5 star as when I got home I found I do not have the templates for a full alphabet only A to W.

I attended my 1st but not last Cricut workshop this evening hosted by Mel. From start to finish Mel was fantastic. She greeted me as I entered the store, making me feel welcome and comfortable. We discussed what I needed advise and help with, which was mainly the Cricut design space. Mel then, toured me around the design space explaining and demonstrating in great detail about each function. Leaving me with a greater insight and understanding. Mel has also given me some great advise on future projects I intend to do and explained all of the different options available regarding Cricut products. The workshop has been a great help for me and I look forward to my next one. I have to add, Mel is fantastic, she is exceptionally knowledgeable and when speaking to her you can see and hear the passion in what she teaches. Could not ask for a better host.

I have just got back from Beginner's Guide to Brush Lettering course and I had a fantastic time. From the moment I arrived in store I was made to feel welcome. Mel, the trainer was brilliant, very welcoming, supportive and patient. The resources were fantastic, it was great having everything I needed to do the course and plenty to practice with at home and everything was very high quality. The cost of the course is excellent, it feels like you get a lot of that back in the resources you receive.

Everything was provided and the teacher went above board and gave them big (plastic) sewing needles to help the children put the beads on to finish the pot. Great workshop! All 4 children enjoyed making clay animalsthe clay was excellent qualityand Gemma the teacher was patient helpfulgiving good tips aiding and abettingthe the end results were imaginative!
The eldest was sceptical about the classbelieving that at almost 11 it would be "babyish "! But she really enjoyed it
The young at nearly 5produced some excellent models ,very rapidlybut they were good
And the 8 and 6 year old s did some very creative animal models!

I think the keyring making activity was lovely but it felt extremely rushed. To make 3 keyrings in about 25 mins was tough especially with little fingers. We wanted to have our names on the keyrings but there were a few letters missing that we needed so we were unable to do that. Some beads wouldn’t fit the thread either. Children enjoyed it but it should have been for at least 45 mins so we didn’t feel rushed.

My issues were - I paid £20 online, but the workshop was advertised at £15 instore and that it didn’t last the full hour as resources weren’t available to complete a project.

I feel it was a little overpriced for what it was. The teacher was lovely and gave my children ideas and tips and they got take their stuff home to paint once dried. It didn't take an hour and it wasn't for my 3 year old who after 15 minutes wanted to go off.

The clay sea creatures workshop was brilliant. We have attended many kids workshops before and I think this was the best. Jason the teacher was great and kept the kids engaged, learning and laughing. He was also polite and great in helping other customers in the store when they asked for advice without taking away from the workshop. The kids made four different clay creatures, learnt new skills and had fun. My son and daughter said afterwards that they loved it.

Sarah our teacher was excellent. She fully explained what to do and was attentive to our needs. The equipment was spot on but prior info to bring an apron would have been helpful. The presentation of the equipment was brilliant and it was a real treat to be given a full box of goodies. Sarah showed us previous work so we knew what we were working towards.
It was clear that Sarah was doing the very best that she could however she was on the tills until 2 when the course started and again at 3. We could see that she was a little flustered to get back to the tills in time. It would be helpful if the teacher could have some clearing up time after the class. We thoroughly enjoyed the session and feel inspired to make some more when we get time! Thank you Sarah.

I cannot put into words how great Lillie was in this workshop, but I'll try! I was bought a cricut and I was so excited to use it but had no clue how. I watched a couple of videos but then realised I could do a class for £5 at hobbycraft. It was honestly well worth the money, I'd have been happy if I'd paid triple that for what I got from the session. Lillie was a wonderful tutor, she went into plenty of detail but not too much to overload and was so friendly that she instantly put me at ease. The setup is in the middle of hobbycraft but you don't feel as though you are in the middle of a shop! All equipment was provided for the session and there were plenty or resources in order for you to have a go at making a few things yourself. I would definitely, definitely recommend booking a session for any craft you are interested in - just make sure you take plenty of money for all the extras you'll want to buy!

The Easter Bonnet hat making class was Fab Lillie the staff member was very helpful and creative with my children and helping to make their hats A good variety of Easter accessories were supplied to make the hats also. Hi, The Cricut workshop on Saturday by Becky was really brilliant thank you. She was friendly and very helpful. Very knowledgeable about the Cricut machines. I was really impressed with the machine and excited about what I can potentially do with it. I bought my professionally printed TShirt along and she was able to help me see how I could achieve the same result myself. And was able to answer all my questions. I decided 100% to purchase a machine during the workshop however I've ended up buying one from Currys. The only reason being that it was so cheap. They have a deal atm of £199 for the Cricut Air Explore 2. Hobbycraft's cheapest machine is £280. I purchased it today. It was simply because I have a tight budget else I woupd have happily bought one from Hobbycraft. I will return to hobbycraft for all the tools and Vinyl though and will definitely pay £15 for the help sessions if I get stuck. Many Thanks, Lisa

The base plate with the slots in, that you build your wooden scene on, hadn't got a hole for the light. Therefore it didn't fit onto the bottom of the cloche. I had to abandon it and glue the houses etc straight onto the bottom of the cloche where the extra bits that should have been hidden in the slots were on display.

Highly recommend this workshop! The person running it was so lovely, and very helpful. Everything was explained and all questions were answered.
The materials provided were incredible, a huge box full of paints, tools, and canvas.
For what was provided, along with the time of the staff, it was really well priced.

The Christmas wreath workshop I attended today was excellent and value for money. Everything I needed to make a wreath was in the box with a good array of decorations.
The teacher gave us some extra pieces if we wished to use them.
The teacher was supportive and gave some good pointers. The workshop was relaxing and there was no right or wrong way of decorating the wreath.
I throughly enjoyed it and hobbycraft have given me the confidence to be creative again.
I would definitely recommend the workshop to others.

I enjoyed spending the time crafting, and the person who took the class was warm and friendly. On looking at the other workshops though, I don't think we got value for money for this one at all in terms of the equipment we were given. This workshop would benefit from different shaped cutters and maybe a little paint set to use when they're dry for those that don't already have craft stuff at home. I'm lucky that I've got a craft room, but a friend I attended with had to buy all the extras. Additionally, I attended the class with a friend and we both felt a bit uncomfortable that the other attendees were all children; i understand that this is a simple craft suited to kids, and I'm all for encouraging kids to get in to crafting, but maybe you would benefit from child friendly classes separate from the adults. It felt a little bit like we were back at school, and we could chat openly like we would have done in front of other adults.

We went through the design app, vinyl cutting, use of pens, and iron on vinyl.
I came away from the class with all my questions answered, lots of knowledge, and the information I needed to start crafting with Cricut. And a customised tote bag!

Sarah was wonderful at explaining what to do with brush lettering, and little techniques to try out and made me feel at ease.
I’ve learned the foundations of brush lettering and can’t wait to practise it some more.
The time just flew too quickly.

Attended my one to one cricut workshop today the instructor was very friendly and approachable
She had a cricut the same as mine already set up along with some products i could use with the machine
She really helped me by going through the design space on my iPad which was a new format for me and one which I had struggled to get to grips with but after today I feel confident I can tackle it now
For me the £10 price for the lesson was invaluable and hopefully I can go on to make a lot more projects with my machine

had to book for online for thurs but class was on a sat bec i work and can't make classes during the day. never used a machine before, was put completely at ease. i was shown and taken through the different parts of the machine, and she could name all the different feet attachments i had. I replaced the needle, shown the bobbin how to thread it, to fit the bobbin. provided with a pre-printed cotton cloth and did a couple of rows straight stitch but differnt stitch lengths. Shown how to move to zig zag and did a couple of rows different stich lenghts. The circle was too small but i was shown how to do corners. The pedal took a little getting used to but i was pleased with my first ever attempt. The tutor was very kind and encouraging throughout and repeated instructions and showed me the best way to hold, insert and move so i could get the hang of it. I was very emotional at the end of the hour because Hobbycraft have helped me keep my promise to my Aunt (whose machine i am using) and who sadly died before being able to tutor me. I've been welcomed back for further lessons or if i encounter any project issues. She was really interested and asked if i would take any projects in to show her. Tutor was very young but very knowledgeable. thank-you

I approached the tutorial with trepidation which was quickly dispersed by Debbie the tutor ( TOP MARKS). I enjoyed the course and gained a knowledge of setting up the machine, its various functions and advise on pitfalls to avoid. At the sessions end I left feeling confident , enthused and pleased that the cost of the tutorial was money very well spent. Thank you Debbie and Hobbycraft.

The teacher was lovely her name was Sarah and she was very helpful and my daughter learnt so much. We had a one to one session it was relaxed and me and my daughter really liked it.
