Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

Class was good as always. Guidance was given when making animals. Ran out of time and unable to complete all animals. In previous classes we have been given the materials to finish any items off or make items we haven’t had chance to, but not on this occasion. Although I didn’t ask. However, we were able to purchase the air dry clay for a small amount. Children thoroughly enjoyed.

Nic, the lady who ran the class was very accommodating and patient with my children. They were the only two attending the class. We had plenty of time to make the three items - spaceman, planet and alien. The playdoh clay was much stickier than the air dry clay that Hobbycraft do but we still managed to use it. We are looking forward to the next craft sessions.

Lovely festive workshop. Scheduled 30 mins but lasted almost an hour which was needed. We made 4 decorations each. I would add I took two 5 year olds and some of the decorations were quite fiddly and the time scale does not reflect this. However, still an enjoyable experience.

Beginners crochet with Ruth was brilliant. I struggle as my hands are arthritic but no problem for Ruth who patiently helped me adapt so I was able to easily join in. In an hour and a half I’ve learnt how to cast on and to actually crochet . There were lots of ideas for beginner makes, practical and video support as Ruth recorded methods on our phones for us. I can not recommend this enough, all equipment was provided- a crochet hook 2 balls of wool a tutorial pack all in a lovely Hobbycraft shopping bag. What’s not to like. Ruth made the session both a great learning environment and fun. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Our teacher Jackie was excellent, very patient and very good at explaining and showing us the basic techniques. By the end of the lesson myself and my granddaughters had mastered the basic crochet stitches. We were provided with wool and a crochet hook with a bag to take them home in. Jackie was super helpful, friendly and encouraging with all the children in the group of various ages but suitable for all. This made a lovely change from our usual pumpkin carving and will be coming back for the christmas workshops , thankyou !

The tutor was really patient and took time to explain how to complete each stitch; this was so helpful. She ensured I had mastered each stitch before starting a new one which was also brilliant. Easter Bonnet Hat Making. I have attended previous years to this workshop and this year I found the accessories available on the workshop were very limited with not much option for creating a themed Easter hat with selected random accessories that were also not fully released to Easter. I did ask the staff member if more Easter items are available to which she had spoken with a manager and came back with a large box of Pom Poms, a bag of feathers and Easter foam stickers, to which there was already a large bag Pom Poms on the table. 5 children booked onto the session and only 6 Easter chick's for the hats provided so again 1 chick per child which was the only Easter accessory at first.

Previous years for this session a hat choice was also available this year there was no hat choice.

Disappointed at the increased cost from £5 to £8 with less accessories to actually make a hat for Easter.

I learnt how to: Wind a bobbin, thread the machine, overstitched a raw edge, sewed a blind hem and learnt how to do a button hole. Overall, the experience was enjoyable and I would do it again. I had a lovely morning in the Christmas embroidery workshop. Ruth was an excellent teacher. I have never made my own wreath before, so to say I was a novice is an understatement. Ruth explained everything brilliantly, and said if one way didn't work for us, she would keep showing us ways until something did work. Ruth gave suggestions but was never pushy. She was friendly, easy to talk to, and overall I had a great time. I was also really impressed with the amount of stuff you get to work with for the money paid. Really enjoyed Rachel’s workshop learning infusible ink with the heat press. I met some lovely ladies during the class and shared ideas. The techniques Rachel showed us were with pens and the infusable ink transfer paper. You can buy everything from the store including the coasters that she gave a demonstration with. The class was great and the coaster and bags worked well the end product looked great and I would definitely have a go at the different processes

My two children had a lovely time and the teacher was great with them. Some of the glue wasn't right for the materials so couldn't get it to stick, but they provided sellotape instead once I'd asked for it. Several customers came over during the session which was a little distracting for my autistic son, but on the whole, it was great. Quiet and calm and very interactive.
A sign up saying there's a workshop in progress would have been helpful to deter customers wandering over and asking the teacher for shopping advice. A cup of juice and a biscuit would have been a lovely gesture too. And a little back up activity, as my children finished within 40 minutes and we had paid for a full hour at £5 per child.

Teacher was lovely. Very accommodating and engaged well with the children.
The glue was terrible which is why it wasn’t a great. We tried the glue with the product, a fabric glue and in the end the teacher used a glue gun. Glue is a big issue if you are expecting children to be able to make these - it simply does not do the job.

A massive thank you to Rachel at hobbycraft Stafford, my son pre pandemic enjoyed attending crafting session with her and other members of staff, he was so excited to go back into store, however on the day he wasn’t well. I messaged in to say we couldn’t make it and as we’d paid could I possibly pick up the supplies we would have used during the workshop so we could do it at home. I popped in and Rachel kindly supplied us with everything we needed. Needless to say I had two very happy crafters and new baubles for the tree. Great store with fab staff.

I’m a complete novice with a sewing machine so was feeling quite apprehensive. However , Ruth made me feel completely at ease from the start. She talked me through the machine, demonstrated how to make and load the bobbin, threading the needle, the spool and differing feet and also talked through the varying stitches that I could use.
Then it was my turn ! I was supported throughout and given careful guidance and lots of practical tips to practise and enhance my sewing skills.
At the end of the session I had practised different stitches , made a buttonhole and also a small bag with a zip !
At the end of the tutorial, Ruth took time out to explain some easier projects that I could do at home - head is now full of ideas and will need to narrow it down to one project and then look for fabric after doing some further practise on what I’ve done today.
Thank you Ruth for your time and patience. An excellent way to learn about your sewing machine on a 1:1 basis and I’m so glad I’ve done this . Thoroughly recommend this to other novices like me !

The teacher was good but although I had put on my booking form what I wanted to learn, I.e. design space and card making her expertise was in other areas which as a beginner I’m not up to yet. The setting was nice, quiet and clean but once again she was not fully prepared. I would say that she gave an excellent lesson but as a suggestion when asked the question on the booking form maybe some short explanatory notes would be handy to pass on to the student. Once again I would recommend the lesson (with a few tweaks) and shall possibly be revisiting for a further lesson.

I’ve just attended ‘get to know your sewing machine’ at Stafford Hobbycraft with tutor Ruth.
I was warmly welcomed at the door shown and accompanied to the lift and Ruth ensured I was comfortable and ready to get started. I was asked what I’d like to learn about the machine I was listened to and everything was explained then demonstrated thoroughly before I had a go myself. We covered an extensive range of activities and Ruth ensured I had notes of everything we had covered. Ruth’s knowledge is extensive and included advice on threads, materials and even problem solving.
The store manager came over to speak to me and also ensured I was alright. I asked about sewing tables and the manager went out of her way to source a suitable sewing table for me to view.
Hobbycraft kept me going through lockdown with online activities but I have to say these tutorial sessions are excellent.
I even had a brief introduction to Cricut and it won’t be long before I book another course. I can’t praise the tutor and team enough- Thankyou.

I arrived at Hobbycraft and was impressed that on arrival other members of staff knew I was arriving and directed me to the area where the workshop and Rachel was waiting. I advised Rachel about a family project I had taken on and asked how the cricut could help me achieve my goals. She grasped the concept and proceeded not only in showing me the various methods and materials to use but also through her own personal experience suggested ways I could use other cricut materials and equipment. Rachel came across as extremely helpful and caring, knowing how important my project was to me. Her instruction was clear and precise and she took time to show me how to work the App which was making me hesitant in buying the product in the first place.

Teacher was very pleasant, great value for money, esentially you use shop premisses to paint instead of buying and taking it home. Would do it again, although there is only so much money boxes you can have in your house. Good choice of ceramics, all seem to be money boxes.
I couldnt take my kids on the day I booked due to illness, but co.pany offered to rebook the session which I was very pleased about.

Still buzzing after my get to know your sewing machine 1-1 tutorial with Ruth at Stafford. I was greeted at the door, made to feel totally at ease and relaxed. Ruth talked me through my machine, carefully demonstrated threading, spool and the differing feet, also talking me through and demystifying the stitch guide.
Next I had a go, constantly encouraged and supported through. I was given tips galore, professional advice and guidance with practical hands on skills.
5 stars is not enough!
I cannot recommend this course enough and my tutor was outstanding.

I also have a video of key points to practice at home visually demonstrated and voiced instructions to follow on my iPhone, to enable the skills to sink in.

Teacher was really good in interacting and explaining the painting process to my child. The material provided was of good quality but when we returned home realised that 1 of the colours was completely dry which we hadn’t checked during the session. Overall my daughter had a lovely time.
