Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

My two friends and I took the Spring Wreath workshop at the Rugby store on Saturday. Judith was very friendly and welcoming. She explained exactly what we needed to do and was on hand to assist and give direction but also encouraged us to make the wreaths our own design. She was also very knowledgeable and we discussed a variety of crafts while we were working on the wreaths.

At the end of the session we each had a unique wreath to take home and proudly display on our front door.

All the materials were supplied and the workshop was good value for money. Only slight negative is that the workshop space is in the middle of the store so we had customers walking past throughout the time we were there.

Eloise, the instructor, was very knowledgeable and friendly. We
were guided through the workings and the capabilities of the Sawgrass machine and feel confident that we can now use the one we have purchased to good effect. The workshop did therefore meet our needs, but it was dogged throughout by problems with printing from an ipad using WiFi and Bluetooth, instead of directly from a computer, and by heat presses, which didn't want to work. Various issues occurred, which Eloise had tried to resolve before we arrived, with, it seemed, little help from the retail support team. It made, what should have been relatively simple, much harder for her and at times awkward. I must commend her patience and perseverance. But we got there in the end, printed off our gift picture and went away pleased with what we had learned.

The young lady who led the workshop was very friendly. Unfortunately the cups we had to dip the baubles in weren't big enough for the larger baubles, so we couldn't get a good coverage, which was a shame as the small ones looked much better.
It would have been helpful to know we couldn't take them home that day, or even apply the gold paint to finish them. We had to buy the paint to finish at home. When we went to collect them a couple of days later, the boxes they came in, which had our names on couldn't be found. We were told the Warehouse Manager is a tidy freak & had probably thrown them away. So an old box, far too big was found to put them in.
When we got them home, we noticed most had touched something while still wet, so they look a mess. I will try and paint over them to tidy them up a bit, but very disappointed.
My mum & I had saved up for this workshop as a Christmas treat, so very disappointed.

Jenna was very enthusiastic and talked us through the class, well. The activity was most enjoyable and gave lots of inspiration. We could have done with more time as the baubles didn’t dry very quickly so we were unable to put the gold paint on them and had to leave them behind and need to return to collect when they have dried. Louise was really knowledgable and personable I ended up having one to one tuition as there was only me booked in this workshop. Louise made sure there were no awkward silences and really helped me with things like not being afraid to break things down to smaller groups like pine ones and berry picks. I’m really pleased with the wreath I made and as a complete beginner I’ve learnt a lot and met a really nice person in the bargain. Lovely way to spend an hour.

Booked a 1 hour canvas painting class for my two girls for a price of £8.00 per child. The class involved a blank canvas and a box filled with tatty paints and not many paintbrushes or pots to tip paint. The class ran for 38 minutes and I found I had to help my children more than the lady running the ‘class’ despite there only being 3 kids including my 2!
For £16 I definitely wouldn’t recommend and I’m put-off booking any other classes in the future. Shame.

The only negative was the very small workspace in the middle of the store in an aisle which was awkward for us and customers. Could do with being further back and having access to a sink and an area for items to dry out. Also aprons may have been helpful, they could be the cloth ones staff use on temporary loan.

In my lesson we covered inserting interfacing which I found quite tricky as you have to negotiate manoeuvring the material through the sewing machine! Anyway with Harriet's expert guidance, as usual, it went well. I'm looking forward to my next lesson.

Hi, Judith was very informative and even though the machine was new to her. It was great watching her setting it up and our learning very much benefited.
I came with some samples of the work I need to do and Judith showed me the approach and material available to use. Also she showed us another machine that was used at home and it was incredible how similar it was. We went through the maintenance of the machine, (all important)and Judith went through some examples and got me working the machine. Overall a very good experience!

The lesson was great as usual. Harriet is professional and friendly and gives me clear instructions for the task in hand. Today I have learnt how to read a pattern and what the signs and symbols mean. I now feel more confident when pinning and cutting the material.

I am disappointed that the cost of the lesson has gone up by 33% - this seems excessive in terms of a price increase.

This was my first session so I was not sure what to expect. The session takes place in the middle of the store, and there isn’t a great deal of space around the table. Overall the kids enjoyed the session but it wasn’t one I would rush back to. There was also no clean up / wash facilities which obviously is not ideal with a children’s messy craft!

I took my daughter and her friend to make Easter bunnies with air drying clay. It was such a good lesson and amazing value for money.

Absolutely amazing Harriet was just lovely! And taught me exactly how to set up the sewing machine, step by step, so patient, kind and friendly We used a few samples and made a basic flag some bunting. She’s given me so much more confidence to begin some new projects! I’ve always hand seen but really wanted a nice machine to use! So, after the workshop, Harriet kindly helped me to look at the different machines and purchase one! Harriet was her usual professional, friendly self putting me at ease from the start of the lesson. We were continuing with the dress I am making and she demonstrated how to sew a straight seam and how to put in the sleeves. After the demonstration I was able to try doing it myself, which was fairly successful although I've got a long way to go before I become proficient. I think I learn a lot in the sessions not only because Harriet is very competent but also because she puts me at my ease and is very encouraging.

My two granddaughters aged 11 and 5 years had a lovely time today. I had booked it as a little surprise for them. Teacher was really great (sorry forgot her name) and really good with my 14 year old daughter.
The crochet kit was lovely.
The venue however was freezing as the store doors were broken
(apparently have been for a long time) and so open the whole time. Not great at 7pm when there's frost outside. Felt quite sorry for the staff working there.

My teacher was lovely and very prepared.
I wanted help on how to sew a cushion back onto a cushion cover I had made. I found this session very useful and am looking forward to attempting this at home.

I managed to buy the cushion inserts and cushion back for my next project and the bits to complete the above project with the help of my teacher.

I would highly recommend this course and the price was very good too.

I loved it! Such a fun activity! I did lettering before which definitely helped as it gives you a bit of courage before actually writing on the bauble. My plan was to gift the baubles created in the workshop to my friends and I ended up customizing most of the baubles (10 out of 12) for their family and friends. Well worth it in my opinion.

Harriet was fantastic, very patient with my daughter who has ASD and dyslexia. Although she desperately wanted to learn to sew she can very easily become overwhelmed and confused with ordering of instructions, having someone practically explain the sewing machine and it's set up, going through the steps with her and giving her feedback on how she was doing was a huge confidence boost. We didn't have a project but managed basic set up, sewing a pouch and test tried all the stitches. She came out with a huge smile on her face and great plans for what she is going to do if Santa gets her a machine! Thank you, your kindness was really appreciated.

Had another great lesson with Harriet. She showed me how to change the machine foot so that we could sew an invisible zip. She showed me how to position the zip, ensuring both sides were in the correct position on the material before we started sewing. She explained that it had to be sewn very close to the zip 'teeth' in order that it was 'invisible' and gave a demonstration after which I carried on trying my best to sew it in neatly. Looking forward to my next lesson.

Really enjoyed the class/group. It was nice and small so straight away my anxiety decreased. The store was easy to find. Then, once in the store, their were stickers on the floor guiding you to your "workshop".
We all got a box with written instructions and pictures of what we have learnt with 2 balls of yarn and a crochet hook. (Which you take home with you).
At the end of the class we had learnt to chain stitch, double crotchet and triple crotchet stitch. We were not rushed and we could go at our own pace.
Judith was great, the teacher, very patient and showed us how to do each stitch as well as coming round individually to show us and explained how to look at your work for checking your stitches and tension etc.
Would definitely recommend to anyone, it wasn't just us ladies either, it was lovely to see a gentleman in the group.

These workshops Hobbycraft run are great.

This is our second time at the clay workshop. It was just as enjoyable as the first one.

Judith, our teacher was fabulous, she was clear, friendly with great communication too.

The venue was great, adequate space for us all.

My Little One really Enjoys making things out of clay; some Great bats and ghosts were made today.

I’d say it was good value for money as it’s enjoyable and the clay goes quite a long way. I think we made 6 items in total.

We learnt how to make different shapes and how to work with the clay too.

My little one liked learning how to make different shapes and how to make bats and ghosts in different ways.

Thank you for a great afternoon!

I have booked 3 children onto the workshop and they have really enjoyed learning and creating new things. Unfortunately, the store was not fully aware we were coming in advance however they tried to get ready as quickly as possible.

The workshop table would be best placed in a different part of the store as there were continuous interruptions from the customers in the store asking the lady who delivered the workshop for information.

I attended this workshop with my 8 year old daughter. Rachel who ran the course was so lovely, friendly and enthusiastic. The course was free and each child got given 2 bags of clay in colours of their choice. Rachel taught them some good techniques including how to do a marble effect. She had examples of what they could make and she let them choose. She talked them through how to do it but gave the children freedom to do what they liked and helped them along without taking over. The venue was nice and easy to get to with loads of free parking

Suzanne was a great tutor and found the class very relaxed. Being a complete beginner I found it hard to get my hands to work together and haven't managed to have another go once home but was offered back up advise if needed I now understand what a double crochet stitch is. Overall it was very good value for money the kit was of good quality I just wish we'd had a bit more time as I was just getting into it. Will definitely be looking at other courses on offer

I was shown how to use the machine as well as the app for the machine they also talked to me through how to use every part of the app that I could need for my use if I were to get a machine. A really good workshop with small number but allowing plenty of time. Each child was given 2 main colours and the leader had parts of other colours if they needed them to add some more details. Works well with ages as we had a 3 and 6 year olds and both were able to produce multiple creations within the time limit. No mess amazing product that we went and purchased more!

The hobbycraft staff were lovely and Ellie the lady who showed us how to use the cricut machine was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly.We asked tons of questions and all were answered the session was relaxed and we felt really inspired when we left. I believe we will start our projects and take some more workshops because they are very invaluable

I really enjoyed the experience and learned a lot. Judith was very understanding and helpful as I have had a stroke and had difficulty remembering what I was picking up, especially at 75 years. It was good to know if I had a question in the future I could always come in and ask.

The teacher was very approachable & was knowledgeable on the topic.
The possibilities are so vast that it would be impossible to cover them all in the alloted time but certainly got an insight into what could be achieved & I have been inspired.
It was also interesting to hear that the sessions can be very specific to accomplishing one goal.
I suspect that as a complete novice, once I have had some experience it might prove useful to have another session. That, in itself, implies that there was value for money.
The one to one element was very key.
It was also good to that the session was about what I wanted from it rather than an opportunity to upsell add ons.

Elloise was great! She listened to our requirements with the cricut maker 3, demonstrated how she would achieve the best results, told us of her experience with her cricut, gave us LOADS of information as to how we could improve our business with the Cricut, answered all of our questions. And best if all, she advised us not to buy it until we were familiar with design space. Very wise advise, because if we can't get our heads around the app, we won't get the best use from the machine. Highly recommended.

I had booked this workshop to try the cricut for the first time to see if it was worth the investment.
I learnt how to operate the basic commands on the cricut machine, it may have been over ambitious to think we could fit in as much as we did.
Although we covered a lot of different things, I am not sure it was enough to convince me to buy a cricut machine.
I was disapointed that I did not try the machine myself but I think it is because we were trying to cover as much as possible.
the venue in the store was ok as it was quiet, we were only disturbed in the last 10 minutes by other customers who were eager to start their one to one.

The lady was really knowledgeable with regards the app which is why i bought the class. I have a cricut joy and i just couldn't get to grips with the app. after having a chance to talk it over with the lady I now feel confident with the cricut and app as a whole.
I do believe it was well worth the money I paid for the class. not only was it a 1-2-1 which was really good but the lady helped me with the project i was stuck on.
The vinyl was provided with was great also.
All in all I'm very impressed

It's was good, 3 pre-printed canvases to choose from and great selection of paints to use.
Only 4 children to addend which was a bit of a let down as we would have been a group of 5 + others could have made more of a session. Also the older children would have preferred a blank canvas to get really creative. Mabey something for another session?

I am a complete novice to cricut and I felt that it would have been better with a quick overview of my machine at the start of the hour would have been good. I wanted to learn about cutting card cake toppers and printing stickers for my business and this was covered, but I felt the hour was disjointed and so I will need to do more research myself. The instore wifi was not great so the laptop being used to demonstrate was buffering.

Booked a beginners Cricut class.
I was the only one that had booked so had a one to one on the basics of the machine and a few tips on questions that I asked.
Ellie, who did the class was friendly and helpful and knowledgeable with the cricut maker.
Only problem I had was that I use a laptop and she used an IPad so things were a bit confusing at times as it wasn’t the same.
Apart from that very good value for the money.

The materials set out were great for practice and do help with your confidence when using the machine, i like that i had stuff to take home aswell. The fabric did keep getting stuck however. Great value for money in my opinion.

Great class and kit was good; the greenery was very fragile and dry so lots of loose leaves in the box. Teacher very chatty and informative and worked at a good pace. Only criticism was that the class was in the middle of the store where people/shoppers kept banging into us.

My 9 yo daughter took part in a watercolour class today. The materials provided are fantastic and there is plenty to continue when she gets home.
