Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

Fab spring wreath workshop for a family for Mother’s Day. Something different to do and was great fun.
Lovely wreath and collection of dried flowers to use and completed wreath taken home. We had a good laugh as a family especially with the lovely sweet Eloise from Hobbycraft with us. Definitely recommend and would love to do this again. We thought it was very good value.

I booked my daughter in for her 14th birthday. Shes keen to learn the basics of her sewing machine and how to just do basic stitching. The teacher Stacey was amazing. She gave my daughter so much confidence and gave her good knowledge and understanding (i also learnt a thing or two). We were given some practise sheets which were fab and Stacey was really encouraging and was happy for us to pop back into see her should we have any problems and to show off what she had achieved. Would definatly recommend this workshop if you are starting out it has given my daughter real enthuisasum.

Lovely friendly teacher, though I believe the craft was new to her too, so we learnt together.
Decorations turned out well, though I feel like its the kind of craft you need to experiment with to get the best results. Would have been nice to have a few more colours for the marbling to choose from. Great fun with friends and learnt a new skill that I can easily try again at home.

I really enjoyed the Christmas Ceramic Baubles Marbling Workshop. Xanthea ,who took the session, was charming and very able.

Lovely class decorating our paper mache pumpkins, the teacher was so bubbly and friendly and great with the kids. Nothing was too much trouble and she put up with two rather rowdy 4 year olds!
The only thing I would suggest is making the signposting to the workshop clearer as we had no idea where to go when we entered the store and had to queue up for 5 minutes at the till to ask.

The teacher was very friendly and helpful. The only problem was trying to find the workshop area as the store was extremely busy with only 2 members of staff so we had to queue to ask where it was. We then spent a lot of time walking around with two four years olds looking for the space. We then noticed there were signs on the floor but it wasn’t that clear when it was busy.

Nicole was great on the beginners guide to crochet. As it was just me I got 1:1 and I finally think I've got it. We did the basics, starting chain, dc, tc and HTC. She even had time to show me how to change colour and do a scalloped edge. Lots of practice required but I've booked straight onto the beginners guide to granny squares for next week!

We have been to a few workshops before and this one was different to the others. There were no prompts or idea sheets for the children to work from and the lady ran out of resources quickly and I had to ask for some more. My little boy loved it still as he has a great imagination and worked from that. Some of the other children struggled to think of ideas. May be it was the facilitators first session We are not put off though and will still be coming to more.

I really enjoyed this class which was granny squares for beginners. I’m a complete novice with crochet and working with a hook. With a lot of help from Nicole who was the teacher for this class I completed half a granny square. A hour and a half session was well worth the money to come away knowing the stitches I need to make the square, I just need to keep practicing now. Thank you Nicole.

I thoroughly enjoyed the "Beginners Guide to Crochet" lesson and would recommend it.
The kit provided enabled me to start learning straightaway, and the tutor was patient, skilled and quickly I began making a foundation chain stitch, which progressed to double crochet, and treble crochet. Skills such as how to hold the yarn and work to obtain a good tension were invaluable. The lesson progressed to learning and trying different patterns to edge or trim work, to explaining in garment patterns how crochet instructions were set out. I feel it was excellent value for money and suitable for all skills and ages. I know with practice I will continue to build on this knowledge. Thank you Hobby Craft, Newton Abbot.

The beginners crochet workshop was fab! The teacher was really positive and friendly. I had zero experience and came away feeling like I could do it….albeit very basically but within an hour and a half I felt well on my way. Materials provided were really good. My Grandson was the only attendee - I'm surprised this workshop went ahead with only 1 booking. We told staff we were there for an activity but nothing happened for 10 minutes until we asked another staff member who seemed unsure, checked his phone, we then waited another 5 mins while he setup. My Grandson has some additional emotional needs & found this hard & at one point tried to run out of the shop. I also had his sister in a buggy. I shop at the Kingsteignton store alot & have always found staff helpful so was disappointed.
Once setup Martin was good with my Grandson & this made it worthwhile in the end.

This was our first class at hobbycraft. The kids were feeling unsure initially.
Chris was great with the kids, chatty, friendly, put the kids at ease straight away. They really enjoyed the class and love their tree toppers we brought home. We have 2 more classes booked and are really looking forward to them.

We were supplied with all the materials we needed to make and fill 8 baubles including two large glass ones which was great value for money at £18 I thoroughly enjoyed it, and the young lady who took the class was very pleasant ,I made two for my granddaughters to hang on their own tree

Opening our boxes of resources was like opening Christmas presents!
Plenty of resources, nice quiet corner of Newton Abbot store. Xanthe was helpful but we had plenty of scope for being creative.
We now feel inspired to do more at home.
This was our first workshop and we will can't wait to try another one!

I had been given a sewing machine and, although having experience of various different machines, was really struggling to get to grips with it. The member of staff was very knowledgeable and was able to help me with the basics, which were not clearly explained or illustrated in the instruction booklet. Erica was our lovely Fluid Art teacher - she was very friendly and encouraged us to experiment with various techniques for moving the paint around and to use additional equipment (heat gun, hairdryer, palette knife, straw) to achieve different effects. We were able to have a go with four canvases during the hour-long workshop. We were really impressed with the selection of acrylic paints that were provided and even more delighted with the take-home box of Fluid Art materials. It certainly provided excellent value for money. Thank you.

A relaxed, uncrowded and fun hour in a nicely air conditioned store. Phew. Generous provision of paints and boards to experiment with. And a box of materials to take home. A very satisfying and surprisingly creative process. Could get messy! Erica, our teacher, was friendly, encouraging and enjoyed interacting with us. We purchased some canvases to continue with this form of painting. Highly recommend the experience. Thank you.

The teacher, Stacey, was knowledgeable and friendly. She admitted she hadn't demonstrated on the particular machine before but it didn't matter, she was very professional. The venue's table was a little mucky after previous workshops with children and I didn't want to get the arms of my clothes dirty. I was encouraged to try using the machine to show I could remember what I was shown. Also, Stacey tailored the workshop to me as I said I had sewed a lot when younger. Good value for money. It helped me to decide to buy the machine as it ticked all the boxes for me, just what I was looking for. I would be happy to attend another workshop on sewing if I found I needed help, but Stacey said to contact her/Hobbycraft if I got stuck with the new machine. Very helpful.

The woman was engaging and good with the children. Only issue was they weren't quite aware of the workshop description. The children were allowed to choose any suncatcher which was great but my son finished quickly. She then said I don't know what you will do for the rest of the hour so I pointed out the session was for 3 suncatchers. I also had to ask for string to hang them which was also listed as part of the workshop and they didn't get the beads that were also meant to be included.

I had a great time in this class. The teacher was lovely and even though I was the only one, she made me feel welcome and confident in what I was doing. It was great fun- messy and creative. Just what I needed!
The kit could have more canvas in there as it takes a few goes to try out the techniques, but other than that, good value for money.

The venue was great, plenty of parking near by. Erica was great at giving clear instructions and patience and encouraging. The equipment supplied was good and Erica gave me some of her own driftwood for other projects. Great relaxing morning. Time went quickly and not enough time to even half complete the pot holder. This would have been even more tight if I not been the only one this morning. I felt very privileged. Wonderful morning thank you Erica.

Stacie was very informative and tried to pack as much information in as possible within the hour. There was an issue with store wifi so she was showing us off her phone which was quite small to see. We were only a small group which i think is good as you can end up spending too much time answering peoples questions and not being able to cover everything. Stacie also went through the accessories with us too and explained about the additional items such as the heat press. Would go again on another course

Once again my two Granddaughters thoroughly enjoyed another Hobbycraft workshop. The teacher Erica made sure that both my 4 year old and 8 year old were given all the materials they needed to paint and colour in their chosen canvases . Erica was very friendly and encouraging throughout the one hour workshop. It was clear that she was experienced in delivering workshops and spoke highly of working for Hobbycraft. I would also add that I believe these workshops are excellent value and will be looking out for future workshops for both me and my Grandchildren.

I was expecting a short talk about painting on canvas. The children were asked to take a canvas of their choice and the paints were left on the table. There was very little interaction with the member of staff, who immediately got on with painting her own canvas right up until the end of the session. I did feel there was very little difference between going to the session at Hobbycraft and buying a canvas to paint at home. A little disappointing at £5 per head.

My granddaughter (aged 5) had a fantastic time doing the clay monster class. The Hobbycraft staff member that facilitated the workshop was great. She demonstrated how to get started and how to add features to improve the final results. The participants were given access to as many coloured clays as their imagination for their monsters and other creations needed. We will definitely be back for suitable future workshops. Thanks so much for a fun time.

Mum and I really enjoyed the class. Mart was friendly and welcoming and very knowledgable. Store lost it’s internet connection part way into the class which was obviously out of the staff’s control. This did not affect the delivery of the class as it proved that you could still do most of your projects from a smart phone! Well worth the money.

Stacey was our tutor & there were only 2 of us & Ester was there training.

We got a new starter pack but there were paints available as well so you didn’t have to use the new ones.

Stacey made it fun, encouraged us to be messy & just play. We had time to play with different techniques especially when things didn’t go so well. We could try things to see the effect of the paint/heat gun/hairdryer. There was no pressure to produce.

Great fun. I wasn’t great but will definitely have another go. The hour went too fast!

I can’t thank you enough for such a lovely afternoon. It may of only been an hour but we were made to feel so welcome and a true sense of the festive spirit.
It is incredible value for money, Carter thought Christmas had come early as beamed with excitement when he opened his box. The difficult part was deciding what to try first.
He made cards, decorations and little presents to give to family.
I look forward to booking more sessions for Carter and myself.

A fantastic introduction into Cricut. Both Stacey and Mart were very helpful, worked at our pace, were happy to go back over any queries and checked in with us regularly to make sure my 12 year old daughter understood and was confident. It was great to see what the Cricut can do prior to Father Christmas coming! Thanks Hobbycraft. I’m sure we’ll be back for another session if/when we get stuck or when we want to try something new. The staff member was excellent, very helpful and fun.
I would say that this class is excellent as a first time class or as a class to do with your children.
I think it’s perfect to start with but you were some what limited to how elaborate you could be as the materials provided were not huge.
If you only want a small minimalistic wreath or a small price then this is perfect. For people who like to go big with their wreaths, I would maybe suggest a garden centre wreath making class.
I did this class with my 6 year old daughter and she thoroughly enjoyed it.

Just learnt a lot about ink infused crucit. Was amazed at all the tips Stacie gave me. Also looked at difference between ink infused and vinyl iron on. Lots to think about and need to get new machine. Can't wait to get started.

Louise was great & very welcoming. I received a lovely wrapped box of goodies to open & use at the class. The technique was explained, I watched Louise use her pens & asked questions which she confidently answered, explaining too how one can add extra touches to make the writing more personal. Stacey was really lovely and helpful, didn't make us feel rushed on a time limit. She was really friendly and we got on. We have never made a cloche before and really enjoyed ourselves. We brought some extra bits to make more.

I was quite nervous about the session as it had been so long since I used an electric sewing machine, but Stacie was absolutely brilliant.
She showed me how to use my challenging sewing machine, and has given me confidence to start using it.
I learnt various stitches and how to use the attachments.
Well worth the money for the 1-to-1 lesson, and I now have training sheets to practice with. Well done Stacie and Hobbycraft!

The teacher was SO patient with my daughter, I was very impressed. She even helped her for longer than the class should have been. The materials were good quality and the value of the class the very good.

I recently got the cricut maker for my birthday, eager to use it I booked a 1-1 and I wouldnt hesitate to book another especially if there was a certain project that I was struggling with. There's so much to learn and Martin was more than happy to answer any questions I had. Personally I would like hobby craft to offer 2 hour windows as it would give Martin more time to be able to go through everything in more detail especially if you really struggle. All in all Martin was open and friendly and I couldn't of asked for better person.
