Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

Surprise for a 7 year olds birthday with her brother and sister. They had a fabulous time and a great teacher. It was great value for money and they learnt how to model and mix to make the right colours. Plenty of materials for their models. They would like to go again.

This was a great work shop. Heather was lovely. Very knowledgeable and friendly and very good at teaching the art of crocheting. The work shop was very good value for money and included 2 balls of wool and a crochet hook inside a lovely little material bag and easy to follow instructions.
I came away delighted that I had mastered a couple of stitches. Ready to take on the world of crocheting.

A fabulous way for me and my daughter to learn the art of crocheting. Heather was a great teacher, giving lots of feedback and encouragement. Her instructions were delivered really clearly and at a good pace. There were 6 of us in the group with differing levels of crochet experience but she showed lots of patience and was able to give tips and techniques to everyone. We were provided with an instruction booklet to take home, a crochet hook and two bags of wool. We started by learning how to hold the wool and crochet hook, do a chain stitch and then progressed to double and treble stitches, making a square of crochet stitches. We both thoroughly enjoyed our workshop and would highly recommend it. Thank you so much Heather!

This was really helpful - my teenage daughter was interested in getting a sewing machine for her birthday so this lesson was to show her how to use it. Lauren was excellent, explained things really well - simply but not patronising - and my daughter loved it’ was able to follow everything and therefore made me more confident in buying one for her. Really reassuring to know daughter can go back for a 1:1 once started if she needs to (she would struggle to join a group).

Best thing I have done. Always wanted to learn to crochet but was getting frustrated.

I’ve had this teacher for my grandsons bento classes and she’s always kind happy and informative. She also advised of health and safety with equipment. The venue is acceptable for crafting and everything required was prepared prior to arrival. I’ve never done a class myself before but thoroughly enjoyed the social aspect as well as the craft.

She is very patient and well prepared, and explains the process so that it is easy to understand . The layout for the workshop is in the store but there is plenty of workspace.

And it's advertised as one hour, it would be hard to get done in an hour, it took 1 1/2 hrs just with two of us, and we were going at a nice pace, so I was late for my next class.

I didn’t know Hobbycraft offered one to one classes and have been struggling to find a really basic, “show me how to use a sewing machine” class but then stumbled across this option.

We explained in store that we would need a 1:1 session for 2 people which Charlie set up for us.

On the day everyone was so friendly, Hayley tailored the session to meet our needs and gave us the information we needed to get started being Cricut virgins.

She delivered the session at a pace suitable for us, answering every question and repeating anything we weren’t sure of.

We did not feel pressured into making unnecessary purchases and her advice and guidance was brilliant. Hayley was very patient as I made notes (I have memory issues due to health conditions). Hayley checked initially that we were ok to stand for the session.

We wouldn’t hesitate to book another session as we felt comfortable as complete novices. Hayley was brilliant and extremely knowledgeable about the Cricut we had purchased. Well done Team Carlisle.

The venue is easy to approach, there are plenty parking spaces.
The teacher was very pleasant, kind, patient and supportive. I learned the basics of sawing on my machine and I also got some homework to do. My teacher also helped me to find solution for my future sawing projects.

My daughters loved making bats, ghosts and spiders out of the air dry clay. It was a really easy mouldable material which is great for little ones, also no mess!
The lady taking the session was Wendy who we have had before and she is always fantastic. She really makes the sessions fun and she is really good at engaging with the children. My girls love her!

The material (provided by Hobbycraft) was an air-drying foamy clay, which was really nice to work with. The class was free, and the models you made were yours to keep.

We used super light coloured "clay". I learnt that you can blend and marble the colours. I had a go at making a rose. The clay sticks to itself more than sugar icing so I found that my petals got more stuck to each other than I realised they would and tried again. It was possible to imprint objects into the clay accurately. I looked afterwards and was pleased to find a large collection of colours that can be bought in separate packs. Very helpful. It was also helpful to learn that the more you mould the clay, the more pliable and soft it becomes, which is rather important to get different effects.

Had a v enjoyable lesson with Hayley. She went through the basics and then gave me time to ask questions and go over things. The area was not organised so quite a bit of time was spent her looking for things. But because it was the 9am time slot that’s understandable. Id have thought hobby craft would have provided a print out of the basics that Hayley taught. As there is so much and it’s a lot to try and remember. I also thought that we’d have a seat -
I struggle with the spine and standing for the hour was difficult.
Hayley was v knowledgeable and really friendly and kind.

The class was great, it was 3 of us all together so we could ask lots of questions and get help.
I'm really sorry but I forgot the name of the teacher (I believe it was Jodie or somehing starting with J). She was really lovely, helpfull and full of knowledge. I learned how to get the machine started, basic stitches, what to look for when using the machine. It's great value for the money, for £5 you can really get lots of knowledge to get you started.
I feel comfortable using my machine now but definitely will book one-to-one class as well.

I attended this class having watched loads of YouTube videos of how to do brush lettering and practised alot so was hoping this workshop could help me as I just couldn't master it. Wendy, my instructor was extremely friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, caring, attentive and encouraging. I picked up loads of tips and tricks (much more than a YouTube video) and would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to learn brush lettering. I can't wait to start my journey with using this new writing style. Excellent session lots of messy fun! My two daughters enjoyed spreading the PVA glue and making their eggs look pretty with the coloured tissue paper and to top it off - glitter! I must admit the effect was pretty impressive! The member of staff who led the session (Heather) was really friendly and encouraging, my two young daughters felt very comfortable and enjoyed the session.

I took my 9 year old daughter for a workshop on how to use a sewing machine. We bought her a pink beginners machine for her birthday but after failing to understand the instructions and You Tube videos I decided to book one of your workshops. The venue was great and we felt really comfortable. Laura our instructor was extremely helpful, thorough and friendly and any questions we had, she answered them with great knowledge. Both me and my daughter were so excited afterwards and felt inspired to start sewing our own things. Once the workshop was finished, we went and bought some fabric to go and make our dog some bandanas. We cant wait to start out sewing journey and after Laura's help, we both feel much more confident to try something we otherwise thought was too scary. The only way we would improve the workshop was Laura struggled with getting electricity to the workshop table so had a fight getting lots of extension cables plugged in and she even nearly tripped over the wire at one point. If you could get electricity to the area safely that would be much better and safer.

I really enjoyed this workshop. For me, this introduction to Fluid Art was excellent. Charlie, the tutor, explained everything very clearly and his instructions were easy to follow. The kit is more than than adequate for several fluid artworks at home, so the workshop was very good value.
The finished art panel , does, however, take quite a time to dry, so it has been left at Carlisle Hobbycraft to be collected later.

Wendy our teacher was really friendly and helpful full of lots of little tips to enhance our class. The cloche kits were bursting with goodies and the best part was we got to bring them home. Great value for money. The only downside was the slightly oversized table in the middle of the floor making it awkward to work on, we would also have been happier if the class had been away from the main shopping aisle preferably in a corner where customers couldn't stand over your shoulder gawping

I did the Christmas cloche workshop at Hobbycraft Carlisle. Parking is easy and free. I was directed to the workshop by the lady at the door
The teacher, Wendy, was very friendly and seemed to know her subject matter very well. The kit provided was excellent with more than enough.material for the two domes
. We even got our own glue gun and pack of glue sticks in our kit, which were ours to take home, along with left over moss, fake snow,paint and paintbrush. Great fun and good value for money. Will be booking Hobbycraft workshops in future!

The teacher was lovely. My grandson is only 4 and some of the tasks such as winding the ribbon around the frame was quite difficult as the ribbon was on the spool. He did enjoy cutting things out and sticking them l. Might be an idea to have measured amounts of ribbon or paper strips for younger ones as easier to handle. Overall though he loved it.
