Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

My daughter bought me a sewing machine for my birthday and I needed some help to get up and running, so I booked into my local Hobbycraft store. I was nervous and didn’t really know what to expect, but when I arrived I was greeted by Amanda who was taking my lesson. She immediately put me at ease with her lovely nature. The lesson was tailored to my need and level of competence, with Amanda demonstrating the basics and allowing me to practice the same steps under her guidance. I thoroughly enjoyed my lesson and feel much more confident with my new craft.

Took my 3 year old granddaughter who loved it. The teacher was great with all the kids and explained about the clay the children were using and the different types available. Also she did not rush the kids away once the half hour was up. Good value for the money which is hard to get these days. My granddaughter made 3 little monsters and came away delighted and had great fun. Will be booking again.

We loved the Easter clay workshop, I took my 4 year old and 20 month old (although she was too young she still enjoyed it)
The teacher was very knowledgeable and funny.
Products were great, the clay was a lot easier to work with than I realised.
I thought it was great value for money.
The only thing I’d say could be improved is the speed of the class, it was very fast and I struggled to keep up, never mind the kids.
The teacher seemed a bit rushed to get both clay designs taught in 30 mins and we did run over by 10 mins.

I really enjoyed the class on the circuit information. The teacher was fantastic very patient with me as I knew absolutely nothing about the circuit machine. The venue was perfect for me as I live in templepatrick so it was handy to get to. I learnt so much and got help 8n which direction and machine would suit me best.
Can't remember the teachers name I sorry I have a very bad memory. But she was a lively girl lovely personality and very helpful. And explained things very clearly

We were the only people booked in for the workshop and it meant my nephew got lots of attention. The tutor Blaire wasn't any less enthusiastic about the low numbers she was brilliant. She was able to adapt the workshop and tailor it to my nephew who can be difficult as his listening skills aren't always great. She got through everything he was meant to make but let him do it with his own spin on it and gave him some free time at the end to make something he had asked for, she really went above and beyond for him and he had a great time.

We had a lovely time at our crochet workshop. The desk space being in the middle of the shop floor did seem to take away from the experience as we were interrupted many time with people needing help from an employee. Aside from this very very small issue, we had a fab time and look forward to continuing to work on our crochet skills!

This was great value for money. The materials given were even better than last year: it was a different style of pumpkin (means we now have a few different ones) and there were a lot more paper colour options than were given previously, which meant more creativity during the actual workshop. Irene, the instructor, was very patient with the kids, and very good at explaining what needed done. Would definitely recommend.

My daughter and I attended this class.
Our tutor was very welcoming and encouraging.
We were given samples of brush lettering, pad of paper and special pens to keep in a useful bag.
The tutor gave us time to practice using the pens as we were complete beginners.
We learned how to write a lot of the alphabet in both capitals and lower case.
We felt we like to keep practising this skill at home and it may be used in card making which we enjoy.

Jill was wonderful! Clearly an expert on all things cricut! She explained things in a way that encouraged and inspired, giving tips and ideas along the way. No question was met with annoyance or criticism and she went out of her way to help and advise me in the crafts I am hoping to do! Katrina was great. She helped me to understand how to do vinyl. I look forward to seeing her again for another lesson. The only complaint I have was the high tables. As I am disabled I can't use them. Katrina then set us up at a lower one which was much better. Its just a pity they aren't all normal size.

The kids really enjoyed making their Happy Easter signs and the tutor gave them guidance but plenty of room to be creative.

My introduction to crochet class was really good, and the teacher was very patient, helping me when I made mistakes. The only problem was I was the only student so couldn't benefit from having others learn alongside me. This did not deter the teacher & I suppose I was privileged to have one on one training!
Highly recommend if you want to learn basic crochet techniques!

Absolutely delighted with this course; my lovely teacher Amanda was simply excellent, professional and friendly at the same time. She made my first sewing class ever very enjoyable and I learnt a lot - definitely feeling confident to use my sewing machine now.
Amanda was very patient, thoughtful, and adjusted the whole course to my needs perfectly. The whole setting and materials provided were very fitting; comfortable and friendly environment.

My 10 year old daughter was really keen to learn how to sew so I booked this course as a start.
The course was great and she loved it the artisan craft expert was great she tailored the lesson to suit my daughter, the lesson lasted for an hour and took her through all the essentials, how to thread a sewing machine etc and took her through a “sewing, driving test”. I would highly recommend this course to anyone. My daughter has asked to go back for more lessons.

Workshops are a great idea, good value for money and good materials provided. I would encourage the teacher to maybe come up with a few ideas of how to explain things differently. She was clearly an experienced crocheter, but the way the techniques were explained did not work for everyone.

I took part this afternoon in an introduction to crochet class in Hobbycraft beside the Abbey centre. Our teacher Donna was very patient as some of us were slow to grasp the basics! She spent time with each of us to give us individual guidance. It was great to come away with a basket containing 2 balls of wool, a crochet hook and printed instructions so we could practise and improve at home. The time flew by!

Alfie was very talkative throughout the class, however Katrina managed this well and continued to teach everyone very well. This was a great workshop I attended with my nephew, he has a short attention span and I was worried he wouldn't sit for the whole session but the instructor Jill was great, she was so patient with him and he had great fun with her. Supplies were great and my daughter (6) had loads of fun painting. Was encouraged to do anything she felt was right for her piece - which was lovely. She had a wide selection of colours and felt that she could ask for anything she needed.

My class was taken by Sheena. She had a great knowledge and took me through setting up the sewing machine, from threading the top thread and winding the bobbin, to selecting and using different stitches. She also brought over one of the stores Midi machines which is what I have at home and explained any differences to the machine we were actually using. She also explained about needle sizes and thread quality and how to check tensions if the stitching is too loose or tight. All in all exactly what I wanted and needed from the class to give me the confidence to tackle a few projects. Highly recommend to any beginners and a big thank you to Sheena for her patience and knowledge

I booked a “how to get to know your” sewing machine workshop for my 9year old daughter as she got a Hobbycraft sewing machine for her birthday. Yes we could’ve YouTube it or read the instructions but there’s nothing better than seeing it in practice and being able to ask questions (some silly ones too). Sheena was our teacher and she was so patient with my daughter and really helpful. She was really easy to talk to and even when we finished before the hour was up, she let my daughter do some more practice runs on the machine instead of hurrying us out the door. Sheena was very helpful in helping us pick threads and other bits that we might need when using the sewing machine. The workshop was great and highly recommend it for beginners. As my daughter said “I loved it!” Thank you!

I really enjoyed the workshop, the instructor Jill was great! She showed alternatives for some letters that really made it easier and she was so patient. The materials provided were perfect, there was extra pens, a book, gift tags and marker paper. There was lots to take away and keep practicing with. Jill also showed how to make the letters more your own and was very encouraging. I found it a very worthwhile experience.

She was focused on me and kept checking if I had any specific questions. She gave me shortcuts advice for certain projects and I left with a handy hints and tips sheet. Great value for money. Absolutely fabulous introduction to brush lettering. Our group of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) all had a great time. Our tutor Jill was super helpful and showed us alternative ways to create the letters but most importantly, how to hold the brush properly. The kit you get to take home is good quality too.

We met Rebecca who has everything set up for my daughter and her friend. We cut card transposed on computer used the press to make a pendant with a dandelion symbol. Best advice was to keep trying as it can be trial and error . Will be back for more .

I took the one to one class as I was very nervous about starting to use my new machine and had so many questions. Irene my tutor was very patient and helpful and able to answer all my questions. Her hands on approach meant I got to do things myself as oppose to watching someone else do them and for me this is the best way to learn. Irene was a mine of information and has got me excited to start my Cricut journey. The venue was quiet enough however I think the area should be cordoned off or a sign to say that a tutorial was taking place as people hovered to get to speak with the tutor.

I had such a wonderful time at this workshop with my friend and even though there was just the two of us, I really enjoyed our time together with our teacher. She was really friendly, able to answer our questions, went out of her way to show us examples if we were stuck and was even able to answer the public's questions during our session. Just had my one to one workshop with Irene who most certainly knew her knowledge of the circuit maker machine. Friendly and showed me lots of different features that will probably take time to master. I also purchased some extra tools and accessories to get me started and Irene helped me choose these.
