Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

The class was great. All of the materials were provided. The instructor was clear in their instructions and provided lots of tips and information on future projects we can use with the techniques. The shop was relatively quiet as we were upstairs where there are less customers. I would highly recommend it and I definitely intend to continue crocheting.

We had a great Easter bonnet session - our teacher was a great guide - our venue was our local branch and it was situated on the second floor, it was a Perfect space. We were provided with all the materials from
The Easter bonnet straw hats to the small chicks and bunny rabbits for decorative purposes. It was a very productive hour and my son thoroughly enjoyed it. I paid full price for this class and then saw the price was reduced for Easter holidays. But we enjoyed our session and ended up purchasing more Easter decorations for our bonnet from the store too.

Really enjoyed this class. 5 in the group. Given crochet hook and 2 x chunky wool to get started. Teacher clear in explanations and very responsive the questions and problems. Learnt to chain, double, half treble and treble crochet. Elliot also showed us how to change colour. I would love to do more sessions to progress my newly learnt skill. I felt it was good value for money for an hour and a half and two balls of wool and a crochet hook.

My three great nieces and I spent a very enjoyable hour learning to paint with acrylics. We each completed three coasters and made one heck of a mess. The teacher was lovely and seemed to enjoy it as much as we did. The paints were beautiful colours and we were supplied with all the materials and tools required to express ourselves in the messiest and happiest way.

As a complete beginner, I very much appreciated step by step instructions followed by the opportunity for me to have a go. Elliot answered my questions clearly and gave some helpful tips for some projects I have in mind. The session was a good pace and we did, in fact, run over time but that didn’t seem to be an issue. I’d recommend the course to beginners.

Really enjoyed today's one-to-one lesson. We managed to cover so much including cutting different types of vinyl, which products to use on T-Shirts and how to manipulate images. It's really beneficial to do these individual type workshops as you pick up hints and tips from those who regularly use the products. I'm so glad I took this workshop with Hobbycraft, it's put me back on track to getting some much needed practice done.

Advertised as up to 5 bags and 30 tags
We were initially given 1 bag and 4 tags each
I asked for more bags and the tutor went and got some but no extra tags
Tutor was friendly but said she was covering for the normal person. Tutors art was no better than mine! and my art skills are rubbish! Session was ok as nice to spend an hour with my friend doing something but not worth £15 per head

Two balls of chunky wool, crochet hook and bag supplied for the task. Also, crochet stitches explained on a sheet for us to take away. A small group of four; perfect!

My daughters thoroughly enjoyed the pumpkin decorating. Lots of colour tissue paper to choose from, the girl running the activity was really friendly and chatty and patient with the children. Would highly recommend this activity and I will be back for Christmas crafts.

Although the children enjoyed this workshop, I am disappointed that after doing several different workshops, it is clear the products are all left overs or unattractive clay colours that don't sell well. Fair enough if this was free but it's not! For this rainbow bead workshop, all of the beads were mixed, it was difficult find 20 of each colour and it was irritating knowing that the store obviously stocks a better selection of beads just downstairs from where we were sitting.

I only wish she did more classes in store, especially “Granny squares” as it’s far easier to be shown in a group then on line, we all seemed to help each other, so please bring the classes back into store. I have always struggled with crochet, being a knitted I’ve never really been able to get a hang of holding the hook properly, and you-tube videos always seemed to feel rushed and I would always keep having to rewind.
Having someone there to guide you through the steps in person definitely helped, and our teacher was amazing and you could tell that they had a lot of experience!
A really looking forward to hopefully do the intermediate class next time

Casandra was lovely & friendly . The class was very helpful to me in relearning essentials… We went through the machine threading & bobbin winding , which is where I’ve been going wrong. She showed how not to sew and advised on taking up cotton lined curtains . She suggest a sewing machine which may be better for the job if mine wasn’t up to it.

The teacher was brilliant. She was very patient and explained everything very clearly. The typed notes are really valuable and I will continue to use them as I practice. The location was good. Materials were provided: crochet hook, 2 balls of different coloured wool. The class size of three was good, allowing time for each of us to get personal attention when necessary. The time went quickly unfortunately and we were all left feeling that we wanted more. What a shame there is no intermediate level. As an introduction to crochet it is excellent. A follow-on course at an intermediate level would be great and really helpful.

Elliot, our tutor, was great. So patient.
I went with my sister, Jackie, and her granddaughter, Esmae. We were all delighted to see our individual boxes containing two lovely big balls of wool, a crochet hook and instructions. Elliot helped us to decipher the instructions and we all learned a running stitch, double and triple stitch. We had varying results but Esmae was definitely the star.
We enjoyed meeting the two other ladies who joined in the workshop. As there were only five in the class in total, it was kept very personal and we were all able to laugh together, when we weren't concentrating like mad.
Jackie, Esmae and I would all like to book more classes. Jackie wants to learn to knit. Esmae and I would like to learn to paint. We would all prefer store based classes rather than online so we hope more will be added.
I would love to learn how to do arm knitting so I will definitely keep an eye on the website for that in the Aylesbury store.
Parking at the Aylesbury store is easy with a big car park right on the doorstep. All Hobbycraft staff are friendly and helpful.
Cannot thank Elliot enough for her skill and patience. What a lovely young lady. A credit to the store.

This class was brilliant. I'd tried to learn crochet via books and the internet and didn't get very far. Through this class I learnt several stitches and, with an instructor there for guidance and to help with any mistakes, it was much easier. The tools provided were just what was needed and having a class near to home was good too. Eliot, our teacher, was helpful and knowledgeable as well as easy to get along with. I'd really like to do a crochet class at the next level up but there isn't one available at this location. Is it something that will be added to the workshops in the future? If it is I will certainly be booking.

Elliot was a friendly, patient and encouraging tutor. Feel happy that I got to grips with the basics . Venue was fine, the kit supplied better than expected.
If anything I think the session could build confidence better if it was slightly longer - maybe 2.5- 3 hours?
I’d also really like to see follow on classes, teaching more techniques like granny squares, and maybe an amirugami workshop.

Lovely class to do with little ones. I took my almost 3 year old and my 4 year old niece who both enjoyed themselves. They made two trees each and then did colouring. My only observation is that the session is quite long for what they make - we had made both trees within 30mins. They still both had a lovely time and the instructor was great with the children and made the experience enjoyable for all of us present.

Teacher was ok if you knew what you were doing which thankfully I did. Would have liked to learn the basics such as how to hold the wool and the crochet hook. Teacher had hand written notes on a scrap of paper which made life much easier, so don’t know why she didn’t have this as a handout. I got what I needed out of the course but would like to see a follow on course as well.
If you were a complete beginner it would have been extremely challenging.

I received a box with a crochet hook, two lovely balls of wool and a crochet guide booklet. There were five of us in the class which was held at the back of the store. Very relaxing atmosphere. The teacher Elliot was brilliant, really helpful and patient. I learned three types of stitches and came away knowing a lot more than I did two hours earlier. It is a great intro into crochet and excellent value for money.

Helpful teacher - the box of materials was very good and was impressed with the amount you got, which made it good value for money. Got tips and ideas on pieces to make - I would suggest that the 1 hour for the course was not long enough and needed to be an hour & half, as once you have opened up the box and got sorted and glue gun had heated up, the hour went very quickly and then it was time to pack up again.
But am looking forward to making more pieces at home with the the rest of the baubles that I had left over.

Generally good. Contents/materials good value. However there were only 3 boxes of materials for 4 of us even though we had all pre-booked. The instructor had put together a 4th pack as best she could with some substitutes but had to finish it off at start of class. So we were late starting. We were pretty much left to get on with thins ourselves with very little guidance, while the instructed just made her own. Would have been good if we had been offered some guidance or tips at the beginning, or had the opportunity to make one together first, or with supervision as my friend & I were complete novices & didn't know what we were doing. One hour wasn't really long enough for this workshop

Our tutor Eliot was lovely. The time went quickly. Every hurdle we came across Eliot solved. I.e we should have brought a rolling pin and needed scissors, but was not asked to. There were only the 3 of us so it was very personalised.

We were the only person at the class so we had the staff member’s full attention.
The class was moved back by an hour but that wasn’t an issue and it was well communicated. There were lots of resources available to use but we weren’t offered some of them and I’m not entirely sure the item was finished properly (another customer came over).
Overall, a good experience and a nice way to try a craft without buying all the materials and finding your child doesn’t like it! Plus no tidying up All in all, good value for money.

Overall, my son enjoyed the event and produced a piece of art which did resemble those used to illustrate the workshop. The materials were good quality and very plentiful, and there was a lot of choice as to what to use. It was good that the teacher did her own painting during the workshop, and was very relaxed about everything, but I thought she could have led the session a bit more actively, rather than the mums helping their children.

Was disappointed with this - the staff running it didn’t show the kids what to do or introduce it well, just told to tear our own tissue and got given a pot of glue. The workshop was an hour but my kids were done in 15 mins, the models were very small so could never have lasted an hour. I thought £5 was a small price but seeing it, still feel ripped off. Will not be booking any other classes here

It was all very relaxed and the teacher was really friendly and helpful. The activity was fairly undemanding and it was just a question of practising, but I enjoyed it, and wouldn't have liked to be frustrated trying to learn something complicated. I was the only one at the workshop, which meant I had one-to-one attention, although it would have been quite nice to meet other people as well. The brush marker pens were lovely to use, and I liked the idea of the templates, except that they were not so suited to a left-hander.

We had Cassandra as our instructor, she is absolutely adorable! Very, very nice with the kids, made everyone feel welcomed, incredibly patient and ever so kind. Materials were provided, venue is bright and comfortable. Overall the experience was happy and relaxed. My daughter really enjoyed it! I will be booking more sessions in the future!

Arrived to find we were the only two in the class but it made it more personal. The teacher was very friendly and helpful. We learned to put an Easter wreath together using a pack included with the workshop, full of really pretty spring flowers , Easter eggs ,a glue gun , and butterflies , these all made a very beautiful wreath and we all had different ideas. I really enjoyed the workshop , we had lots of room and things like scissors and cutters were provided. I'm going to look out for my next workshop now , Macrame perhaps .

Would be useful if the store provided suitable seating, this would have made the experience better. I would not have been able to stay for the hour if a stool had not been found. Standing for an hour class is not really acceptable. Not easy for the tutor either. Thanks

My daughter had a great ceramic painting session today! Her teacher was really patient and friendly, the pottery was included in the £3 price and Hobbycraft supplied additional paints, brushes, glitter etc. I got to shop in peace too! Highly recommend, these workshops, we will be back as soon as we are able.

Amazing session. My 5 year old loved it. The box given with all the art bits was fantastic and he really enjoyed making the cards. He can’t wait to paint the ceramic tomorrow. The lady running the session was really lovely and got us all in the Xmas spirit. She read the attendees really well as my son was a bit shy and she interacted really well with him. I had been struggling to get to know my new machine and was happy to find out about these workshops at Hobbycraft. The class was easy to book and good availability.Cassandra was friendly and helpful. She gave some very helpful advice and we had enough time to practise, no rush. The materials and facilities provided were adequate, especially the lighting was very good (for my eyesight !).On the whole ,I think it is fantastic support for someone like me venturing into new areas. I really enjoyed this class. A big box was ready for me when I arrived with all the craft items in it. Lauren was ready to teach me and had a photo of one she had made earlier on her phone - which was very helpful as I pretty much copied it! Lauren was great, really friendly and nice to chat to whilst we crafted. The quality of the product was very good and everything needed was beautifully presented in a specially designed box. I would say it was good value for money and would definitely recommend it. I am pleased to have booked onto other courses already. Happy crafting!

She was able to give me lots of ideas on how to move forward , so came away from the workshop with great inspiration for future projects. I have been to many Christmas workshops at Hobbycraft in Aylesbury, so I knew the location and teacher were good. This time the items were delivered in a box, which means, unlike previous years, you are restricted with your creativity. It was not the good value it has been before. The contents were very basic and limited. I didn’t like the shade of red, it was not dark and Christmasy. If this is how the workshops are going to be run in the future then I won’t be attending more. It’s much cheaper to buy the items individually in store. If you are charging that price and sending a complete kit, then you should include a £5 voucher, to spend on additional decorations for your advent calendar. In the past I have been inspired and purchased extra craft items, not this time. An hour and a half is not long enough for this task. Most of the time is spent giving the whole advent calendar a recommended base coat. Disappointed. However instructor is engaging.

The workshop was great & worked around what I needed to know. Cass was really knowledgeable, inspiring, personable & simplified things that I needed help with! She was great with product information too. My only criticism would be, was that the workshop wasn’t long enough. I think it would be helpful to still offer 1hr slots but add 90min slots too. I would definitely participate in themed group sessions ie water bottle labelling. Box labels, picture designs. Coaster designs. Iron-on projects. Please could this be considered?! I will definitely come back for more

My teacher was Cassandra Reader in the Aylesbury branch, she was very patient, and showed me what I needed to get started with my cricut joy. I had no knowledge of how to used a cricut, but felt confident to take my cricut out the box and get started after my first lesson with Cassandra. She make it easy with the step by step teaching she gave me this morning. The venue was good and easy to access. It was good valve for money but I believe a bit more time will be more amazing like a 2 or 3hrs slot at a time for beginners and maybe a 1hr for improvers who just need a quick lesson to improve their skills. Thank you to Cassandra again and I look forward to another class with her in the future.

The teacher Bernie was very patient and very good. The venue and the materials was good. The class was value for money. Raishaun really enjoyed the class and he learnt how to mixed colours to create different colours and how to wash out his brushes, which we had to buy new canvases the next day for him to continue to paint.
