  • 5/5 from Elizabeth Crispie, attended Jan 2025: I enjoyed a very productive beginner's class with Gemma. I was the only one in the group (assuming the icy cold kept the others away), so I basically had a one to one session. I learnt so much and as a beginner, came away knowing several stitches and improved knowledge about types of wool, tension, counting stitches and understanding basic pattern reading. Gemma was very patient, knowledgeable and able to offer lots of advice. A very helpful session indeed. Thank you Gemma!
  • 5/5 from Raji, attended Aug 2024: Gemma was amazing - I was a complete novice to crochet and within an hour she managed to teach me how to crotchet. I am now working on completing the cushion cover that I started at the class. Thanks Gemma - highly recommend this class
  • 5/5 from Liz Morgan, attended Jul 2024: Excellent teacher who was very patient. Great value for money! I’ll definitely be looking into other workshops
  • 5/5 from Gill Rees, attended Jul 2024: I did the crochet for beginners class as I have dabbled in crochet recently but my squares always ended up as triangles and I didn't know what I was doing wrong. The teacher took us through the correct way to make a slipknot and how to create a chain. She taught us how to do a double crochet stitch and how to ensure our edges were straight and not slanted (as in my previous experience). She also showed us how to increase and decrease stitches as required. She taught us how to change yarn colours and how to cast off. She had infinite patience with us all and helped us to identify if we had gone wrong. She demonstrated everything as many times as needed. All the equipment needed was provided - wool, a crochet hook and a tote bag to put everything in. The wool was good quality and consisted of 2 balls of different coloured chunky wool which made it easy to work with. All in all, it was a great experience and I can't wait to dive into my Christmas blanket project.
  • 5/5 from Tracey Francis, attended Jul 2024: Fantastic class. Instructor was so experienced. Very patient. Will definitely be back. Loved it. Thanks
  • 4/5 from Diane Offord, attended Jul 2024: I have wanted to try crochet for a while. The teacher was excellent, very helpful and made sure we had any help individually needed. We were given two balls of wool, a crochet hook and a bag to carry our materials home. The only issue was the wool provided (WI wool) tended to split which made it harder for learners. We learnt how to make a chain, do a double stitch, change colour wool and cast off. We were also shown demonstrations of any mistakes that could be made. Overall the class was good value for money but a different wool would make the class better for learners. It provided a good basis for learners and positioned us to progress in crochet
  • 5/5 from Anne Smith, attended Jun 2024: This was a birthday present for a friend who like myself always wanted to crochet but never learnt. We tried You Tube, but both need to be shown. Gemma was brilliant! Very patient even when we made the same mistake over and over. I think this was very good value for the money considering that you came away with 2 x Wool, hook and a bag to carry it away. We both went home with our purchases like 2 kids in a sweet shop!!
  • 5/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Jun 2024: Amazing!!!! Thank you so much! I learnt loads! It was great fun and a good price
  • 5/5 from Gwenda Carnie, attended May 2024: Lovely helpful teacher. Not easy to teach a class of beginners of different ages but she did very well. Thanks!
  • 5/5 from Helen Quinn, attended Apr 2024: Great value for money! Excellent teacher! Hope to come back for a 1 to 1. One negative, it was so cold Will wear a jumper next time.
  • 5/5 from Cheryl Duff, attended Apr 2024: I just always wanted to learn to crochet and with Gemma teaching I learned a lot. Venue should perhaps be in a cordoned off area as Gemma got interrupted a few times by members of the public. Great value for money and lovely materials provided. I liked the fact that Gemma had time for every learner and explained procedures so I could understand.
  • 5/5 from Kathy Smith, attended Apr 2024: Amazing session! Learnt so much in the time! Time flew by! Teacher was superb & had a good rapport with everyone! Very knowledgeable and explained everything so it was easy to follow & understand. Materials provided were great too! Excellent value for money. Would highly recommend
  • 5/5 from Nicola Griffiths, attended Feb 2024: Thank you Gemma! Lovely class for beginners crochet this morning. My daughter and I have never done crochet before and Gemma was so patient teaching us as we didn’t have even a basic knowledge of the craft. Literally not even picked up a crochet hook before! She was very knowledgeable with lots of great tips. Thanks again x
  • 5/5 from Rachel Bushell, attended Jan 2024: Gemma was very friend. We were all at different beginner levels and Gemma was careful to explain everything and provided plenty of encouragement. Gemma made it easy for a total beginner like me to ask for help and at every step she made sure I felt comfortable with what I was doing. I appreciate I’ll need to do a lot of practice to get the hang of it and am considering booking a 1-2-1 with her in the future to help me gain confidence!
  • 5/5 from Sabrina, attended Jan 2024: Gemma was a fantastic teacher. Really patient and spent lots of time with each of us individually showing us what to do and how and showing us mistakes and how to correct them. Everything we needed was included. Totally worth it.

  • 5/5 from Megan Ingram, attended Sep 2023: Gemma was a very knowledgeable teacher. She was patient and happy to repeat steps as well as go back to steps I wasn’t sure of. As someone who had never picked up a crochet hook I left feeling I could master the basics.

  • 5/5 from Ruth Thomas, attended Apr 2023: Was a complete novice at the start of this class but Gemma, our lovely teacher was very patient and friendly and showed us how to crochet as well as giving hints and tips to make it easier. We also had a left handed person and Gemma was able to teach her as well. There were only 3 of us which made it a more intimate experience.
  • 5/5 from Wendy Giffen, attended Mar 2023: The crochet teacher was very professional and patient with me as an absolute beginner. The materials were generous leaving me a project to finish at home and the woman on the cashdesk was very helpful and friendly. All in all afreat experience!
  • 5/5 from Deb Morgan, attended Feb 2023: A friendly fun class, with a patient instructor who was able to spend time with us individually. All materials were provided and advice going forward.
  • 5/5 from Julie Thompson, attended Feb 2023: A great workshop - thank you. Gemma was really informative and patient. Really good value - with the 2 balls of wool and crochet hook provided. We will be back.
  • 5/5 from Julia Luen, attended Jan 2023: my tutor was the brilliant Emma, she was patient teaching and demonstrating two stitches double crochet and treble crochet and the 'magic ring'. she explained tension, how stitches work and pattern abbreviations. my goody box included 2 chunky yarns one grey, one mustard and a chunky crochet hook which made it easy for me to use, follow/count stitches and reference cards for me to practice at home. my experience was very good and after some practice I wouldn't mind coming back for intermediate learning.
