Did this as a follow on from the beginners joinery course.
Another great class from Brandon, utilising different tools & skills, with a beautiful knife block as the end result.
Would highly recommend.

The teacher was so good, clear instructions, good demonstrations. Explanations about how to use tools were clear

I recently started volunteering at the Richmond Furniture Scheme and felt that some joinery skills would be useful so took this course.
Over the two days we learnt
- how to evaluate the wood we were using,
- how to mark out, cut and finish a number of joints (half-lap, bridle, mortice & tenon, wedged mortice & tenon)
- how to use the different tools required for the above joints
Brandon, our teacher, was great. He explained things very clearly, giving lots of hints & tips, allowing folks to work at their own pace whilst keeping everything on track.
I would definitely recommend this course for anyone looking to start exploring woodworking skills.

Lovely class with a supportive teacher who kept a keen eye on everyone particularly as power tools were involved. The upshot of the class was beautiful serving boards for cheeses, nibbles etc. Maybe for bread but it would be a shame to ruin the finish with a bread knife.

Really enjoyed today's plumbing workshop with Annie from Valkyrie Plumbing. The session struck a great balance between theory and hands-on practice — we started with a solid grounding in how home heating systems work (combi boilers, Y-Plan/S-Plan setups, cylinders, safety components) before moving into practical exercises like soldering copper pipe, fitting valves, and diagnosing common issues. Annie explained things clearly and made sure the theory actually connected to real, practical skills. Would recommend to anyone wanting a proper grasp of home plumbing basics

This is the second one day course I’ve had with these guys and this was every bit as good as the first. Plenty of hands on under the tutors watchful eye with helpful pointers along the way. The course content was relevant and well presented but also dynamic enough to address my personal needs and goals. Absolutely loved it! Well delivered and loads of fun. I’ll be back!

In our 4 hr wood work workshop, we made a serving board per person. We were both new to woodwork. There were a few types of wood panel to choose from. Each panel was were beautiful and large in size to make perfect serving tray or cutting board.
Brandon was an excellent instructor, who was attentive and highly skilled. He allowed us space to be creative and patiently demonstrated how to cut, smooth the edges, make a hole, sand the surface of the wood panel.
It was such a fun experience to design my own serving board and make it come to live. Highly recommend!

Brandon is an amazing teacher! We enjoyed this two-day course tremendously and learned so much! At the beginning of each day he gave an overview of what we would be doing, and then he guided us step by step in making the stools that we are so happy with. Highly recommended!

This was an excellent course. I had read how versatile a router can be and was anxious to learn and get started. Brandon is an excellent teacher. During the day I learned and practiced different routing techniques and Brandon helped me build a specialised jig for a woodwork project I am doing. Along with some other jigs which will come in useful as I use my router in the future. I would highly recommend this course for anyone who wants to learn about routing or expanding their knowledge and experience. Well worth the money. Look forward to going back at some point to expand my sills. Thanks so much for a great day.

Wonderful class! Annie the teacher was extremely knowledgeable and fantastic at explaining how things work in a way that (finally!) made sense. Now I can understand how to work out what has gone wrong and fixing a lot of plumbing issues around the house. I feel so much more confident about knowing when to do things myself vs calling out a professional and being able to understand how a professional has fixed things too and asking the right questions without it all completely going over my head. Lovely environment, completely relaxed and loads covered in just one day. Strong recommend!

Brendan was fantastic. Very supportive and encouraging. He was very knowledgeable and gave helpful pointers for fixing my mistakes.
During the workshop we did 2 types of joinery. We learnt to use various tools including a chisel and Japanese saw.

A great workshop with amazing people. Important lessons on safety and building confidence when handling heavy tools—especially if you’ve never had the chance to use equipment like that before. Valuable tips on daily use and maintenance were also shared. And last but not least, it was a real pleasure to hear about Brandon’s experience. Highly recommended.

helped me learn how to use the power tools I already have better for home diy, and gave. me the opportunity to handle a new one. also helped me learn about materials and the physics involved when using them with fixings and power tools - overall really insightful, in a well-equipped and lovely workshop space, with a friendly and knowledgeable teacher (thanks Brandon!)

Great way to build confidence, try things out and get feedback on correct ways to use the powers tools - all in a friendly, supportive and interactive atmosphere. This has shown me once again that I never learn better than in person with a real great teacher (thanks Brendan) and real people to learn with and from. It was more fun than expected too.
Thank you!

The course was great. Richard the tutor judged the needs of the group very well and balanced the theory and practical elements perfectly.
Plenty of practice time, space for questions and lots of useful advice to enable us to get started on personal projects. A fantastic facility alongside the other POW equipment.

The day was fun and informative from start to finish. Brendan explained everything and followed that up with a demo. Then it’s over to me and I was able to produce a piece of work I was truly proud of. That was due in no small part to the excellent instruction I received. I’d highly recommend this course.

My husband and I had such a great time making our serving boards, thanks to the expert tuition of Brandon. We also super happy with the final results - one is going to be a wedding present and the other a 70th birthday present. Thanks so much WOW!

Aline Arruda Attended Jun 2026

Brendan was very patient, explained things well and was very knowleadgeble. I really enjoyed this class. There were notepads and reading material available which was great. There were about 5 of us, which seemed an ideal number of people for this class.
The room was extremely hot, due to the heatwave but we coped well with the 2 fans available.
My only suggestion would be for more tools to be covered on the day and to have more practice time. People usually have a lot of stories to tell and a lot of questions related to what they are looking to do, which is not always what other people are interested in, so I felt way too much time was spent talking. Sometimes the class just needs to keep going.
I will be looking into joining another course to keep learning. I had a lot of fun in this class.

Sue Flynn Attended Jun 2026

Monica Capelastegui Attended Jun 2026

It was a class to make a joint. I enjoyed the class a lot! I had zero experience and was a bit nervous that I wouldn't catch up, but the instructor broke down the steps clearly and explained the logic well. He also made sure to look after everyone's work - thank you!
Ice lolly was much appreciated!

I am an IT PM and wanted to learn wood working skills as hobbies. This class was prefect for the beginner because it covered the basic principals. The teacher was very patient and helpful. His explanation was easy to understand and always willing to help. It was a mixed group of people (young/old and male/female) with everyone having similar goal. The tester has got my interest buzzing and keen to practice skill. I would like to pursue more classes in the future.
