What you'll do
This special letter-themed workshop is a great way to explore the world of DIY crafts, try new things and make a stunning handmade book.
You will be creating a book of memories and letters to the future. It's a unique and personal DIY project that also makes a unique gift for a loved one.
Experienced bookbinder, Cass, will guide you through making and decorating envelopes and how to stitch them together using an exposed French link stitch. You'll then add a front and back cover to complete this special book. It's a great structure for storing written cards and letter you want to hold onto.
With writer, Julie, you'll discuss how letter-writing is a method of communication, storytelling and processing thoughts. You'll explore some writing exercises to create your hand-bound collection of uplifting and inspiring letters.
Your teachers will be there to answer questions and share their personal connections to letter-writing. It's a perfect class for beginners and a great way to flex your creative muscles.
After the 90-minute live online class, you will also be given access to 'how-to' video instructions to help you continue this papercraft. You will also be invited to a follow up online session where you can share your creations.
We have a few craft kit options for you that include tools and materials. We have good quality bookbinding tools, a range of recycled, vintage papers to inspire you, stamps and a few surprises— it's a joy to use and is perfect for this project.

What you'll get in your craft kit
There are two kit options:- Kit with tools includes everything.
- Kit with no tools, which includes all the papers and stamps but has no bookbinding tools (e.g. awl, needle, bone folder) This is great if you've done a bookbinding class before.
What you'll need
If you decide not to buy a kit please provide your own materials. A comprehensive kit list, including measurements and suggested suppliers, will be provided before the class starts.
