Wheel Throwing Pottery Class

Try something new at this wheel throwing pottery workshop in Leyton.

2 hours Class size 1 to 2 guests     £79

Join Flo (founder of Florence Mytum Ceramics) in her light-filled, Leyton studio to learn the basics of throwing on the potter's wheel. With a maximum of 2 participants, this intimate workshop means you'll get heaps of hands-on support as you learn.
This two-hour long session will begin with (an optional) cup of tea, an overview of the ceramics process, and a tour of Flo's professional studio. She'll then perform a wheel-throwing demo, talking you through clay preparation, body positioning, and the techniques of wheel-throwing.
Now it’s your turn to get creative! You'll have plenty of time to get on the wheel and put what you've just learned into action. Flo will be with you the whole way, answering any and all of your questions and providing hands-on support as you go.
At the end of the workshop, choose up to two of your favourite pots to keep, and Flo will glaze and fire them for you. You'll have the opportunity to choose your glaze from Flo's selection of around seven beautiful colours, so your pots will be totally personalised.
This relaxed, friendly, and informative workshop is perfect for beginners wanting to experience a taste of the ceramics process in an intimate setting with plenty of support. It's the perfect opportunity to relax, learn a new skill, and explore your creativity.
After the workshop, Flo will glaze (in your choice of colour) and fire your pots for you. She will then send them to your chosen UK address or have them available for you to collect in around 4-6 weeks' time. Everything is included and there are no extra costs!
Things to note:
  • Wheel-throwing is a messy business! Aprons will be provided, but we recommend wearing something comfortable that you don't mind getting dirty.
  • You may want to cut your nails before coming as this can make it easier, but it's not essential.
What you'll get
At the end of the session, you will have up to two finished pots to keep!
  • All materials, glazing, and firing of up to 2 pots per person, and the shipping of the finished pots to your UK address are included in the price.
  • They will be finished in around 4-6 weeks after the workshop.
