Connect with expert teacher Craig, who'll help you learn how to sew in sleeves and insert pockets in a side seam as you craft a one-of-a-kind piece that's sure to be your new favourite coat. You'll get to choose which fabrics you use to create a simple yet effective draped coat that perfectly matches your style.
In this workshop, you'll cover:
Understanding the pattern pieces.
Laying patterns onto fabric and marking.
Cutting out.
Sewing in-seam pockets.
Sewing a shawl collar.
Setting in sleeves.
Hemming.

Please note:
You will see both sides of the fabric on the final garment. Please take this into consideration when picking your chosen fabric.

What to bring
One of the following fabrics matching the sizes below:
Boiled wools.
Tweeds and woollens.
Cottons.
Denims / linens.
Fabrics must be 150cm wide.
Sizes 8 - 18 = 2.5 metres.
Sizes 20 - 24 = 3.5 metres.

They won't run this class if they've had a continuous cough, a high temperature, or a loss of or change in their normal sense of taste or smell, in the last 14 days.
On entering, we will have sanitiser stations for you to to freshen up. All machinery, sewing stations, and tools you will be using, will be sanitised before you arrive, and between each session.
At your sewing station you will also have sanitiser wipes, should you feel you need to use them.
Our lavatories are communal, but they will be supplied with santiser wipes, hand wash and disposable towels.
Face masks:
We will continue to follow the government guidelines on facial masks. If you are exempt please bring along your exemption badge.

After graduating from Central Saint Martins, with a post-graduate degree in Advanced Innovative Pattern Cutting, Craig (Mr Fashion Box!) embarked on a kaleidoscope of successful ventures within the fashion industry.
Craig is a qualified university lecturer, graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University, with a Distinction in Academic Practice, teaching certificate.
During his time working in the fashion industry, he has worked alongside a huge selection of fashion houses, new designers and is a mentor to many university lecturers and fashion graduates.
He is also a former Collection Manager for Qasimi Homme, has worked alongside Sadie Clayton, and is currently working on production of a collection of clothing patterns for his own brand.
Craig has more than 25 years experience in teaching in universities and colleges, as well as with private clients. As a result, he is accomplished at getting the best out of both groups of students and one-to-one situations.
After 8 years at prestigious private Italian school, Istituto Marangoni, he left to pursue his dreams of opening his own fashion school, which resulted in The Fashion Box.
Craig is also former Head of Fashion at a London University, and is currently writing university programmes for fashion schools and universities worldwide.
He is a very patient, capable mentor and tutor, both to beginners and more experienced students.
