Learn hand sewing techniques to repair and bring new life to your loved clothes.

2 hours Class size 1 to 10 (public classes), 4 to 6

label £30 - £55 (£30 per Public dates, £55 per Private class)

Join supportive and friendly teacher Tessa as you learn some sewing techniques and add new life to the torn clothes you wish you could wear more. The perfect class if you're on the hunt for some sustainable things to do in London!

We all have those well-loved items sitting in a bag or on a shelf in the back of our wardrobe, Whether you're too fond of them to throw out or they're not fit to pass onto a new home because of the holes or stains.

Bring them back into the light, show them some care and get creative with this sewing class. Be fashionable in a planet-friendly way using visible mending that will show you how to sew up those holes so you can wear your favourite clothes again.

The hand-stitching skills you will learn with Tessa can be applied to all types of clothing, including knitwear, jeans, sweats, and shirts. Please bring along an item you would like to repair, or materials will be available to learn on a sample if you prefer.

During this hand sewing class you will learn:

  • How to use embroidery threads.
  • Three stitches to get you started on creating your own designs.
  • How to finish your work for a neat result.

By the end of this class you will have all the skills you need to breathe new life into your wardrobe at home, and possibly even an item you mended in the class.

This workshop is run in association with The Islington Climate Centre, a lively hub for the local community and residents who want to address the impact of the changing climate. 15% of workshop fees go to support the running of the centre.
