What you'll do
Discover visible mending, a technique that highlights a mend with darning and embroidery using contrasting colours to show the beauty of an imperfection. You may have moth holes in jumpers, holes in socks, or a stain that will not wash out, or you may wish to refresh an item with some stitch and colour. Whatever your reasons, you'll learn some useful and beautiful mending techniques that'll give you plenty more enjoyment out of beloved items of clothing or other textiles.I will guide you through the process of visible mending, darning, and embroidery, which will include sashiko, a Japanese sewing technique. We may also use patches to add some extra flair. You will then be able to create truly beautiful pieces and bring your beloved item back to life. Don't worry if you're new to this, as only a small amount of hand-sewing experience is necessary, and you'll pick up plenty of new techniques to take away with you along with your stunning mended item.

My journey as a maker and crafter involves a variety of techniques, including sewing, quilting, and crochet. In my work, I prioritise sustainability and mindful crafting and promote these in classes that I run, where possible I like to use carefully select vintage and end-of-roll natural textiles and trimmings, giving these materials a new life and purpose. I have been teaching sewing and crocheting for many years and love to promote and allow people's own style creativity shine.
