5.0 (9)Hello, I'm Roli, founder of The Hall of Bright Carvings.
I started my journey in woodcarving with a short carpentry and joinery course, I then went on to take a longer furniture craft course. During both courses, I became more interested in carving detail into the pieces than the act of constructing them. This led to me taking a three year Diploma in "Ornamental and Historical Woodcarving" at the City and Guilds of London Art School.
Since 2005, I have taught woodcarving at adult education colleges and from my studio in Greenwich, as well as accepting commissions from individuals and churches. Come along and discover this special craft and spark a new passion!

A really great teacher, who guided us thoughtfully.
A choice of oak, elm or walnut (I think) - but he also showed us lots of other wood types and work he has done well beyond spoon carving.
All in a location with fascinating views of the Thames and its barrier and over to the Greenwich peninsula and Canary Wharf.

Roli was a great instructor, very friendly and knowledge. It was a nice relaxed vibe in his studio with great views. I’m very happy with the spoons we made, and hope to do more wood carving in the future.

Roli is a brilliant teacher.
He perfectly and patiently took us over a journey of carving a spoon from a block of wood, explaining every step, and answering any questions we had.
The class was in his studio, really nice space with the necessary tools for everyone.
The atmosphere was great, relaxing and supportive, and everyone was really nice.
It was a fantastic value for money, indeed!
I now know how to use some of the carving tools to be able to start my journey
I've never carved before, and I'm a proud owner of a spoon that came out of a block of wood (before and after picture!).
