Learn real silversmithing in this hands-on jewellery workshop in Cardiff and craft a beautiful sterling silver spinner ring – a wearable fidget piece with an outer band that spins freely around a fixed base. You'll work with your hands from start to finish, learning techniques that feel far more impressive than you'd expect.
Your friendly teacher will guide you through each stage: measuring and cutting your silver to size, shaping and forming the ring bands by hand, then using a jeweller's torch to solder the pieces together. Once your ring takes shape, you'll add texture, patterns or a hammered finish that's completely yours – making it truly one-of-a-kind. Then comes the satisfying final stage: filing, sanding and polishing until your ring gleams.
No experience needed – just bring curiosity and a willingness to get stuck in. What makes this special is that you'll walk away with a wearable piece you've made yourself, plus real skills and the confidence to keep exploring silversmithing whenever the spark takes you.

Is there parking?
The workshop is in a peaceful village with lots of on-street parking close by.
Where can I get lunch?
You are advised to bring a packed lunch to make the most of the time available, and you are welcome to use microwave facilities and the kettle on site. Culverhouse Cross is also close by if you did want to pop out for lunch.
Do I need to wear any special clothing?
Closed-toe shoes are essential in the workshop. If you normally wear glasses or contact lenses, please wear/bring on the day. This includes reading glasses.

What times does the class run from/to?
Usually we start at 10am and wrap up by 4pm. Some students finish a little sooner and are welcome to stick around and have a cuppa - I have a wide selection of jewellery books to leaf through too!

I have around 15 years of experience making different types of jewellery using everything from beads and mixed media to traditional methods of gold and silversmithing.
