This was a lovely experience. Janine and Steve so generous and supportive, guiding me, as a first time weaver, in technique, design and also the safe use of the looms. The studio is light and airy and the equipment beautifully crafted. And, at the end, I had a cushion to show for my efforts! Wonderful

I enjoyed my first weaving cushion workshop so much a few weeks ago, that I booked and came for a second workshop today! I am very happy with the cushion I made this afternoon. Many thanks Janine for being a really kind and patient teacher, as well as giving me some really helpful tips and advice on the yarns and fabrics that I could use to weave the fabric for my cushion. Freeweaver Studio have just moved to a new studio in Greenwich which was light, airy and felt so relaxed (5 minutes walk from Maze Hill station or a 10 minute walk from Greenwich station). Would totally recommend this workshop to people- switch off for a few hours, learn a new skill and make something beautiful to take home!!

Loved this so so much! It was my first time using a floor loom and Steve made sure everything was set up for me, walked me through the different steps, and was on hand if I had any questions. The other weavers that were there were all very friendly and lovely, as was Erna who helped stitch my finished product up to transform it into a cushion. The studio is beautiful, equipped with any yarn colour you're after - will definitely be returning to Freeweaver Studio to make use of their 'independent weaving session' option!

From the warm welcome, relaxed setting and fabulous selection of colours and textures, the time spent learning and creating was excellent. Thank you again. Individual guidance given, but once started there was no stopping us. freedom to be creative appreciated but with experienced input to assist as needed once started. By the end of the session I had a cushion that I was really proud of. Looking forward to coming back.

I had an amazing weaving lesson when in London for London Craft Week. I learned not only great weaving techniques in a 2.5 hour lesson, but also learned about the creative philosophy of the SAORI weaving craft! I wove a pillow cover and it is gorgeous! There is a calm about the studio and the teaching style that is very positive for learning and creativity. I LOVED the whole experience and can’t wait to go back for a longer weaving stretch.

I was the only student on the date that I picked so basically had a 1 to 1. The teacher was patient and helped me loads to pick up the basics of spinning. It's quite difficult to coordinate all the motions but I came away with a decent looking hank of hand spun yarn, and even had time at the end to have a go at some weaving. Fantastic place, will definitely be back!

Amazing class. Janine is a brilliant teacher. Very patient and very creative. Her yarn library is extensive and full of incredible colours, textures and shades which you can take your pick from. You leave the class with a beautiful piece of work which can measure as long as you wish it to as it all depends how much you get done within the time frame. Some people make a woven piece of around 80 cms - I managed to make a piece of around 2 metres in length! A really enjoyable experience.

All of the materials are absolutely beautiful as well, and theres a huge variety to choose from. You can stay as long as you want and pay by the hour! What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon! Janine and Steve were lovely teachers and were so helpful and accomodating with my disability (I can only use one hand/side on my body) Was so happy to explore new fabrics and ways to make my cushion even more authentic. The workshop venue is great and in a soothing calming environment with a nice selection of coffees and herbal teas to sip on while you weave. Highly recommend this workshop for anyone looking for a unique activity to do in London

We've had a lovely afternoon weaving fabric for a cushion. It's very rewarding choosing yarns and getting the cloth done in time to take a stuffed cushion home - all in one sitting. This was such a refreshing way to celebrate a birthday with friends. Janine and Steve were the perfect hosts.
