In this engaging metalwork class near Stanley, County Durham, you will learn how to create your own clock from metal and take it home with you.
  • Begin with an introduction to the tools and materials before crafting a small practice piece to familiarise yourself with their use.
  • Move on to designing your clock, choosing between bringing your own ideas or using one of the intricate Celtic knotwork designs provided. The clock measures 17 cm in diameter.
No previous experience of metal embossing is required as you will be guided through each step. From designing and transferring the pattern to the metal to mastering the techniques of metal embossing and giving your clock an antique finish.
Throughout the workshop, you'll feel supported and encouraged in a welcoming environment, perfect for beginners. The small class size ensures you receive personalised attention and guidance.
By the end of the workshop, you will take home your unique, handcrafted clock - a testament to your creativity and newfound metal embossing skills.
Please note:
  • The workshop takes place in a home studio just outside Stanley, County Durham.
  • This workshop is subject to a minimum of two participants for it to proceed.
  • Access to the home workshop is via stairs.
  • Kindly inform us of any dietary requirements for the refreshments provided during the workshop.

I’m Carrie, and I’m an artist and art and crafts teacher based just outside Stanley, north east England. I have been teaching art and crafts since the early 2000s, and have been teaching these with wellbeing in mind since 2014, working with a local social prescribing service. Through personal experience I know just how engaging with art and crafts can bring about a wonderful sense of wellbeing and relaxation. I absolutely love passing on my knowledge and the benefits of art and craft for wellbeing.
My aim is to bring wellbeing through getting creative to everyone. I particularly love to teach absolute beginners and get them started on their creative journey. Rest assured, whatever your art and craft experience, I will guide you through the process and make it as enjoyable as I can for you. I work regularly with people who have long term illness, carers and people who live with depression and anxiety.
Since childhood I have always created art, and it has been a constant throughout my life. My main personal art focuses are printmaking, metal embossing, Celtic knotwork drawing and plein air sketching. Back in the 2000s I worked for a craft company for almost a decade, where I learned a lot of other arts and crafts, so I teach a wide range of skills.
