Your teacher

I'm a mosaicist who specialises in ancient Roman floor mosaics, something I've done since 2002. I love to share what I have found out about how they were made and how we can make copies of them using the same techniques as the original craftsmen.

I want to know how those craftspeople worked 2,000 years ago and how were those skills then passed on. I can then use that in the way I teach. I've worked on mosaics that were the size of my hand up to training a team for floors over 100 square metres and in every case I'm asking, 'How did can this be taught better.' It's a fascinating craft, a very easy one to learn but the more you do, the more you see those small details that can tell us so much about the makers.
