If you're a dim sum or dumpling fan but have yet to attempt to make these Asian delicacies at home, this is the virtual cooking class for you!

This beginner-friendly online class will teach you step-by-step how to make the perfect dumplings and wontons in the comfort of your kitchen.

With the help and guidance of your friendly teacher, you'll learn everything from preparing the fillings to wrapping, cooking and eating your dumplings and wontons.

Your lesson will kick start with a quick introduction where you will discover some dumpling trivia from the history of dumpling making to some modern-day trends.

During this dumpling making class you'll learn how to:

  • Make dough from wheat flour.
  • Prepare pork mince and seasonal vegetables.
  • Wrap your dumplings and fold your wontons.
  • Boiling and fry your creations.

At the end of this cooking class online, you will be able to eat the delicious homecooked dumplings and wontons you've made. You'll also have the skills and confidence you need to make even more on your own in future.

  • You can find dumpling pastry and Wonton pastry from Asian stores. Usually frozen, need a few hours to defrost before use.

What to bring
  • Dumpling/wonton pastry (if you choose a frozen variety, please defrost it before your class).
  • 500g pork mince.
  • 500g Chinese leaves.
  • 100g shiitake mushrooms.
  • x 1 or x 2 eggs.
  • Wheat flour (if you'd like to make your pastry yourself).
  • 1 x large pot for boiling your dumplings (5 litre + is best)
  • 1 x non-stick pan/wok with lid for frying your dumplings.

Suitable for

This Live streaming class is a great indoor activity idea for individuals and couples as well as for virtual team building activities at home.

Suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 10 years old). An adult must accompany any attending kids. The adult may observe at the class for free.

Your teacher

We are a wife-and-husband team running a small shop called Oriental Food at north London. Shop sells cooking ingredients mainly focused on Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

The shop is not big enough to be a one-stop shopping destination. Therefore we choose the food we like to introduce to local community.

For a while, we found out some cooking books misunderstand or not clear explained lots ingredients. It made customers confused. We started to cook dishes and sell in the shop. All ingredients are used from the shop. All dishes are followed authentic tastes. If customers like the dish, we will show them what have been used.

We enjoy to share our cooking skills with customers. As the dishes get popular, we started selling fresh prepared bentos in Oriental Food. Now we are also doing local delivery and you can find us on UberEats, Deliveroo, etc.

More and more people come to ask how to cook the dishes. Here comes the cooking classes. Customers can learn how to make the most popular bentos in Oriental Food now. We are lovely to talk with. We share our authentic cooking techniques as well as modern trends. So you can make a perfect Chinese, Japanese and Korean food too.
