What you'll do

Looking for creative and fun things to do in London? Come along to this enjoyable and friendly art class and learn the skill of printing whilst meeting new people and of course, enjoying a sip or two of BYO bubbles.

What is lino printing?

Lino printing is an eye-catching form of printmaking, which involves carving into a surface block of linoleum (yes, the floor covering!). The lino is then inked before a piece of paper is placed over it. Finally, pressure is applied by hand to transfer the ink to the paper.

New to lino printing? Perfect! Your friendly teacher will be there to guide you through the whole process of creating, carving and finally printing your stunning design.

During the evening you'll enjoy the company of like-minded arty folk along with the chance to relax and unwind as you let your creativity flow.

At the end of this unique and laid-back art class filled with bubbles and fun, you'll head home having enjoyed a social and creative evening with your very own lino print wall art!

Completely beginner-friendly — all ability levels welcome.

What you'll get

Materials provided.
You will leave with around 5 beautiful A4 prints to hang at home and the knowledge to keep printing.

What to bring

We are currently not handing out aprons, please bring your own or wear suitable clothing.
This class is BYO, so please feel free to bring your own beverage and we will provide the glasses.

At Lavender Print School, we have always believed that in today's technology-focused world, there is a desire for people to re-connect with the hands-on methods of traditional arts and crafts.

This is why Lavender Print School is passionate about teaching printmaking in relief and intaglio methods, as well as art-based workshops in painting and drawing.

Eva was an excellent teacher and gave really detailed explanations of how to use the lino cutting tools and create prints. She also helped us wash our lino plates at the end which was very kind :)

Really nice class. The teacher was very nice and good at explaining the basics. She was always around to answer questions, but the class was not intense or stressful.

The studio was a bit tricky to find and a bit far from the tube stations, but it was a really nice and artsy studio.

All materials were high quality, there was a great variety of high quality paper to make prints on.

I really enjoyed the Lino print class. I found the carving part of the session quite relaxing and then the printing part to be fun as it was exciting to see how the images turned out. The teacher was very helpful and gave us lots of tips. I liked the choice of images and I think the class should run this option where you choose from a selection in the future, rather than sticking to one. All the materials were provided and I came away having learnt a new skill. I am keen now to try another one of the classes at this venue.

I really enjoyed the class! It was a good introduction to lino printing. The workshop was very nice - lots of prints and artwork hanging everywhere and it was lovely and warm on the cold evening. The teacher, Eva, was super welcoming and positive about everyone's work, and made the evening very pleasant as well as productive.

Amazing class! Really enjoyed it. Our teacher was wonderful - such a lovely person and she created a really warm and friendly environment. Venue was a bit cold but if you wrap up warm it's absolutely fine.

We learnt how to create a Van Gogh style sunflower print. Materials provided were all great and I was really pleased with my finished print. Can't wait to get some materials to try at home!
