Learn Fabric Printing with Metallic Foils

Foiled fabrics are washable, long-lasting and very easy to handprint at home. Try this fun online craft class to learn this versatile metallic foil printing method so you can embellish your sewing and embroidery work.
You'll be supplied with a set of coloured foils as part of your DIY craft box and your talented teacher Gabriela will show you how to apply these creatively using ready-made stencils as well as your own.
This foiling workshop is equally suitable for complete beginners as well as more experienced creatives keen to learn new techniques. If you're into making your own clothes or textile art, this is a fab class for you!
By the end of the session, you will have your own handmade reference samples showing two different application methods. You'll also have a raft of new metallic foiling skills and the ability to adorn fabrics at home independently.
- 3 x A5 metallic foils.
- 2 x self-adhesive stencils.
- 1 x piece of freezer paper to create your own stencil.
- Textile adhesive.
- 3 x A5 pieces of black cotton fabric.
After the class, you’ll be given access to a list of suppliers and a written tutorial.
- Pencil.
- Scalpel and cutting mat or scissors.
- Small paintbrush.
- Iron and ironing board.
- Baking or greaseproof paper.
Gabriela is an artist and maker. She creates pictures, decorative objects, greeting cards and jewellery with images inspired by memory, nostalgia and a love of everything vintage.
Her work is often humorous and whimsical – unless her romantic side takes over and then you enter into a fairy-tale territory of old-fashioned script, pages of books and music scores populated by chivalrous gentlemen, glamorous ladies, butterflies and rabbits. She blends a fusion of painting and digital media – acrylic, watercolour and ink with digital print – onto paper and canvas to create a wide range of work.
In addition to her own creative endeavours, she is passionate about inspiring other people and sharing her skills, so she devotes a good portion of her time to teaching.
