Pottery course outline:

Week 1 : Intro to clay - what can be done at pottery studios and small manufacturing processes, how it works from start to finish, and also the health and safety in the studio. Pinching pots is the first technique you get your teeth into. Finishing off with glaze samples for future use.

Week 2: Coiling vessels or sculptures, with this world most known sculpting technique.

Week 3: Slab building, a total different approach to soft clay, think structural in this session. Get geometric-n-groovy.

Week 4: Throwing, we will show you how to throw on the wheel, in this small group you'll get plenty of one to one. Throwing is much harder than most think, we believe that throwing is a skill that evolves at your own pace and with lots of practice.

+Slip casting is our bonus of the course. Exploring the industrial process of casting a bowl or cup with a ready-made plaster mould! You will learn how to decorate straight from a mould and cast your first manufactured-like piece of tableware!

Week 5: Decorating, learning the possibilities in decorating, finishing your pieces. use colour underglazes or colour slips to add colours. Press on marks, and carve out patterns. the possibilities are endless, all you need is your own inspiration

Week 6: Finally Glazing! You’ll be glazing all your pieces either with brush-on or pouring or dipping techniques depending on the shape and size of your pieces.

Clay and glaze are included but firing is at £3 / litre (size of 2 pint glass), payable in cash or card at collection.

At the end of these six pottery classes in London, you'll leave with new knowledge, a collection of sparkling ceramics, inspiration for your clay journey, and even new friends who share your clay love!
