Water Marbling at Home

Join us for a relaxing and creative paint party where you can let loose and have fun playing with colour.

Paper marbling is a centuries-old art form where you paint on water and dip in paper or objects to make hypnotizing, swirling paint patterns. It's a simple yet effective technique that looks absolutely stunning.

Your live online class will be lead by a talented marble art expert, Lucy from Marmor Paperie. She has all the information you need to learn how to paper marble. You will learn how to thicken water, how to prepare the paper and how to control paints to create magnificent marbled masterpieces.

This hands-on art class has been designed with beginners in mind. If you have any questions around the technical elements, your teacher is there to help. And for the art, it can be whatever you want! Let your imagination run wild. Feel free to experiment and enjoy this painting with a twist.

With the handy DIY kit, you will receive loads of useful painting tools, as well as everything you need to thicken the water. We suggest you protect your painting area as it can sometimes be a little messy.

This DIY craft is such a fun thing to do at home, and you will be hooked in no time. It's a great chance to unwind and flex your creative muscles. In the end, you will have some beautiful artwork that you can be proud of.

• 5x acrylic paints (primary colours, black, and white so you can mix up any shade you like.)
• 5x paintbrushes.
• 60g Carrageenan.
• 40g Alum.
• 1x Pipette.
• 1x Skewer.
• 1x Double-sided comb.
• 1x sponge.
• 12 x A4 paper (4x coloured and 8x white.)
• Plastic container (doubles as a marbling tray.)

• Blender or electric whisk for mixing up the marbling water.
• Kettle.
• Heatproof container or bowl.
• Food scales in grams (not essential.)
• Measuring spoons.
• 1-2 newspapers or scrap paper for cleaning the water.
• Watertight bin or plastic bag.
• Folding clothes airier or clothesline to hang wet papers on
• If hanging indoors, plastic or cloth to protect underneath
