Looking for an enjoyable activity to occupy your child this October half term? Drop them off for a full-day kids' sewing workshop at Flourish, a sewing and embroidery class in Bristol, designed to teach the basics of machine sewing Led by experienced sewing tutor, Lauren, your child will learn how to thread, stitch, and create their very own drawstring backpack with an appliqué design to take home.
  • In this workshop, your child will learn all about machine sewing basics, from threading to stitching and appliqué techniques.
  • They will be guided through the process of creating astring backpack with an outside pocket and appliqué design.
  • All materials, sewing machine, and sewing kit will be provided for use during the class.
  • With a maximum of 6 students, your child will receive personalised attention in a small group setting.
The class will run from 10am-3:30pm with a 30-minute lunch break. This drop-off course is suitable for 9-year-olds and above, and a carer is welcome to stay if needed. Join us for a fun and educational workshop where your child can learn new skills and create something special to take home at the end of the day.

Designer and Maker Lauren Holloway has been running her own slow-fashion handbag and accessory brand since 2013. Lauren specialises in making sustainable bags, purses, laptop cases and toiletry storage, all handcrafted in her Bristol-based studio. She has extensive knowledge and experience in designing patterns and sewing anything from coin purses to backpacks. Lauren offers a range of sewing workshops from beginner to intermediate level, where participants can learn the basics of using a domestic sewing machine, brush up on existing sewing skills or develop new techniques to improve their craft. You’ll leave the workshop with new-found knowledge and inspiration for future projects plus you’ll take home a beautiful handmade bag you can enjoy for years to come.
