Mochi are increasingly popular desserts in the UK. Learn how to make these delicious Japanese delicacies at this creative London baking class.

Taught by an experienced chef, you'll gain a range of new culinary skills and will learn the history and culture behind this popular desserts. You will often find it is a small class in a spacious shop with air conditioner. More often gets private class if booking in weekdays.

Throughout your London cooking class, you'll learn how to:

  • Make the dessert pastry.
  • Make your fillings.
  • Wrap your desserts.
  • Decorate and serve what you've made.

If time permits, your teacher will show you how to make some different varieties.

Learning new baking skills and immersing yourself in the history of these tasty desserts, this culinary journey to Japan will treat your mind and your taste buds.

By the end of this dessert class in London, you'll have created delicious Japanese desserts to take home and enjoy – Mochi in many flavours, and you'll have the skills and know-how to re-create them at home later.

Valentine Special Class
  • Extra Pink Mochi with special rose flavour filling.
  • The special rose filling is made from real rose flowers. It is a traditional authentic fermentation method in China. It is hard to see in London. Don't miss it.
  • Following the very popular and well reviews from customers. We make the Valentine special available all year on now. You can make the special taste mochi for your special ones any time in the year now.

Add-on Classes
All Add-ons are in the same class. It is to save your time and make the class more fun. Please allow extra time, 30 minutes to 1 hour. You can always contact us before booking to find out more details.

It is more tasty and fun to add bubble cocktail while you are making the desserts.

Add Advanced Mochi to make more beautiful and delicious dessert. Requires extra 30 minutes.

Add Mochi Ice-cream to make a few mochi with ice-cream inside. It takes extra 15 minutes.

All the cakes will take extra 30 minutes.

  • Milk is essential
  • Butter also used.
  • Nuts and sesame seeds might be used depends the flavour you choose.
  • No gluten in Mochi. However it is used in some add-ons. Please check with your teachers before booking.

This class can be held online as well as at client site. Please send a message to the teacher to discuss the details.

Refund and Reschedule
Please book the date you definitely can attend to help other customers' bookings.
  • There is no refund for cancellation.
  • Later than 15 minutes to agreed time will see booking cancelled with no refund or reschedule.
  • Possibility of Reschedule is very limited and will be charged £50 per booking.

  • Beginners are welcome.
  • Cut nails will help.
  • Suitable for gluten free and egg free diet.

  • Children must be accompanied with at least one adult. All require valid tickets.
  • A person under 18 cannot attend the class alone. We will ask for valid IDs if you look very young. You class will be cancelled without refund if failed to provide proofs. It is for your safety and required by insurance policy. If we don't follow it, this class will not be allowed to carry on. Thank you for your understanding.

We are a wife-and-husband team running a small shop called Oriental Food in North London.

We started offer cooking classes to commercial clients since 2012. Then it is soon became very popular in general public as well.

Currently we have more than 20 different cooking classes focus on authentic and traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean food. Also have more than 5 different tasting sessions. The sessions let customers explore the traditional style of dishes before deciding which class to learn.

We booked the Japanese desserts lesson for myself and my 13year old daughter. We were lucky enough to have the instructors to ourselves. Our hosts Simon and Hanna were great. Really friendly and very informative. They both explained clearly and demonstrated what we needed to do. They let us do and try everything. Really lovely experience and I would heartily recommend. Very interesting cooking class with nice tutor, Hanna.
Along with mochi, we added bubble tea cake and souffle pancake. The class is well organised with all ingredients provided. We just simply follow Hanna's instruction. The results come beautifully and very delicious.
We wish we added bubble tea as well. However you can buy drinks, mock-tails or cocktails, in the shop. All super nice and delicious.

It is a very interesting cooking class.
Hanna gave very clear instruction and helped us to start with. We managed well soon afterwards. They provided many different home-made fillings and popping balls etc interesting ones.

This is a great class.
We learnt to make traditional mochi from scratch.
We managed to make perfect shape mochis at the end.
Hannah provided many different types of fillings also two different colours of pastry.
The final result looked very amazing.
Definitely a lot mochi to make. A food container is necessary.

Went as a valentines day thing, Simon and Hannah were great, fun, very friendly helpful. A really nice couple, all clean and highly recomend

Lessons were easy and lots of tips and opportunities to practice in their shop.

Learned to make nice yummy foods. to take home. It was only us two which helped for attention. Looking forward to going again.

Go by public transport, parking not good in the area but thats no fault of theirs, its near tube stations and lots of busses
But do note when there are two things to make you only get to do one each rather than learn one then learn the other but there was some crossover goes at the later stages of both.

Wow I had such an amazing time. Simon and Hanna were brilliant, very welcoming and I felt completely relaxed. Both gave me great tips - I made three dishes: Red Bean Dorayaki, Red Bean Mochi and Oreo Cream Mochi. I got given lots of advice on how these fillings could be incorporated into other dishes and also how I could mix 'n' match the desserts in my future cooking to follow the current trends.
