What you'll do

Dive into the works of Freud, Degas and Schiele while working on your very own artwork that represents the beauty of the human figure in this London painting course.

Over three calming painting workshops in a supportive and friendly studio, you'll be able to expand on your basic skills and build your confidence with the brush. You'll learn how to capture the human figure, clothed or nude, onto the canvas. Go from sketches with graphite, charcoal or pastel before moving on to painting the texture of fabric and skin.

You'll be guided from start to finish by one of our friendly artists. They'll show you the ins and outs of using water-based oil paints or acrylic, demonstrating techniques like 'alla prima' (wet-on-wet painting) with plenty of tips and tricks thrown in as you give it a go yourself.

This course is recommended for improvers looking for things to do in London that will help them refine their art skills. You should have some experience already, however, there is still so much you can learn from tonal values, colour theory and art history.

During these three painting classes, you will:

Get comfortable using an easel and perfect your standing technique.
Learn how to work on an observation drawing.
Cover proportion, scale, space, tone and perspective.
Develop and use a limited palette.
Work on colour mixing and brush techniques.
Paint a variety of life models, both nude and clothed.
