Looking for fun things to do in Cornwall? Roll up your sleeves and enjoy an introduction to the world of glass fusion at this half-day class in Downderry!

In this workshop, you'll cover the basics of fusing, learn how to safely cut glass shapes and try our several fusing techniques as you create an assortment of fused glass art.

You'll start by trying out basic straight line cutting and breaking to make a stunning mini suncatcher before crafting a single layer piece which will either be slumped into a votive holder/standup piece or a hanger, you'll cut pieces of glass and use ready-made frit, pebbles and stringers for your pattern. You will also be able to design and make a pair of coasters using UGC enamelling techniques.

Never tried glass fusing before? No worries, your expert guide will be by your side every step of the way as you develop new skills and learn how to make fused glass art from scratch!

At the end of your class, you'll leave all your pieces to fire in the kilns, ready to collect a few days later and display in your home or give as handmade gifts.

Please note: pictures represent samples of techniques used during the workshop - actual items may differ and not all pieces can be made in the workshop.

Overlooking the English Channel with views of Looe Island in one direction and Rame Head peninsular in the other, The Glass Shack is situated in a stunning location on the South East Coast of Cornwall.

Having spent most of her working life in corporate finance and business management, Caroline came to work with glass later in life but immediately knew it would be where her future would lie. Mostly self-taught, learning through experimentation and trial and error, she is now happily working alongside her husband, Steve, the “woodmaster” who sources and prepares all the wood bases for the glass pieces.
