What you'll do
Looking for something extra special to mark a hen party, team-building event or just a weekend away with some friends? Come along to this bespoke cocktail masterclass in the Vale of Glamorgan, which also includes a gintastic tour of the distillery in the cellars of a 17th century castle! You'll learn all about the history of Hensol Castle, the origins of gin, the wonders of botanicals and our distilling process — not forgetting the all-important gin tasting!
Hosted in historic Hensol Castle in Pontyclun, you and your guests will join master distiller Dai and his team as you enjoy a fantastic few hours of everything gin, from how it's made to how to use it in your favourite cocktails.
After a complimentary signature cocktail on arrival, you and your guests will get into the swing of things by watching some fascinating expert demonstrations, letting you familiarise yourselves with the ingredients and tools on offer. Then, working one-on-one with a talented mixologist, you'll each learn to craft up to two signature cocktails from the bespoke menu.
Not only this, but you'll also enjoy a full tour of the incredible distillery set up in the cellar of the castle. You'll learn all about the history of gin, the castle itself and how Dai and his team create their amazing spirit, as well as tasting the results — an essential experience for any gin lover!

What to bring
We suggest sensible/comfortable footwear as this is a working distillery in the cellars of the castle. With this in mind we also suggest layered clothing as it can be cool in the walkway but warm in the botanical room and gin school.

Hensol Castle Distillery is a family business with traditional family values. A business where our colleagues, customers and visitors come first.
HCD as we like to call ourselves is wholly owned by the Leeke family who have built a business portfolio that includes the long-established Leekes Retail group, the success Vale Resort, and Hensol Castle - a grade 1 listed 17th-century castle that just so happens to have large empty cellars. These cellars now house our distillery and contract bottling plant as well as a top-class visitor attraction and gin school. We are extremely proud of the spirits and liqueurs we produce with our gins already receiving plaudits and awards and our market-defining Trulo range of reduced-calorie liqueurs seemingly taking the market by storm.
In 1897, the current managing director's great grandfather started a small ironmongery business that quickly grew, we like to think that the same guiding principles of hard work, honesty, respect and integrity that drove James Henry Leeke are the same values that drive us today.
