We did the charcuterie board making class with Johanna. We were taught how to use the band saw, belt sander, bobbin sander, orbital sander to make our own design of board from sapele wood. At the end we finished them with hemp oil and beeswax. An awesome class! We both really enjoyed it and would wholeheartedly recommend it!

The teacher was great and very informative. We created charcuterie boards from scratch and the process was broken down to give a real idea of how they are made. The class takes approximately 3 hours to complete and you can have as many breaks as you wish, with access to a kitchen and water and toilets. The best part was learning the process of how it's made and being able to actually use the high tech machinery on site to make the boards, would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking to do a class, groups are also welcome so perfect team activity day for friends, colleagues and families.

I took my partner to this class as a birthday gift, and while he was initially a bit sceptical about making a charcuterie board, he was quickly won over by the creative possibilities. He ended up having a great time and being really happy with the board he made. 
It's a brilliant gift for someone who likes making things with their hands (and eating cured meats and picky bits).
After an early woodworking failure at school, I wasn't at all confident in my abilities, but Johanna's instructions were great, and with her guidance, I was able to bring my vision to life. 
This project is a great introduction to woodworking. You get to use some fun tools to make something practical that's totally doable within the time allowed and provides the opportunity to be creative. There were three people in our class so everyone got plenty of time and attention, and each of our boards looked so different, but they all turned out so well. 
It was such fun way to spend a few hours and then to get to take home a unique piece. I can't wait to have people over for cheese and charcuterie and be able to brag that I made the board myself. Highly recommend!

Recently feel a little bit burnout at work, want to do something to switch off. This was a very good experience. I have 0 experience and definitely a bit clumsy. But this class is still very easy to get hands on. The teacher is very nice very patient and well explained.

Atmosphere was meditative but collaborative and playful.

I really enjoyed Variegate's hardwood dish woodcarving workshop -- I had never tried woodworking before but Johanna explained everything from how to use the equipment, the types of wood we would be working with, to carving techniques, very thoroughly. She and Harry were very hands-on and were happy to answer all of our questions throughout the class. I found the process from start to finish very interesting and enjoyed the challenge of trying to shape and carve the wood to my liking. I would highly recommend their classes and will definitely book another class (eyeing the charcuterie class!) again in the future.

This class was SO much fun. We each made our own charcuterie board in whatever design we wanted. Our instructor helped us along the way but didn't micro manage or hover. THe project of coming away with two chopping boards was very methodically demonstrated, using all the tools and machines available to shape and smooth an ordinary plank of British Ash wood! I booked this workshop as an anniversary present for my other half as he loves all things creative and working with his hands. We both had an amazing time making our charcuterie boards! We got to choose the type of wood we wanted to use and managed to use our own design too!
