Fused Glass Candle Shade Workshop

Create your own tea light shade and a little extra something of your choice

2.5 hours Class size 1 to 10 (public classes), 4 to 25 £35
During this two-and-a-half-hour workshop in the heart of Warwick, you will create a fused glass candle shade plus a small extra item of your choice. Your hand-decorated glass panel will be attached to a tea light holder, allowing candlelight to shine through.
We will start with an introduction to all things glass, including all the exciting elements you will use to create your piece - glass ‘stringers’, paints, frit (tiny granules of glass) - all in a myriad of colours! I will also guide you through some techniques to create your unique candle shade.
This workshop is perfect for beginners as no cutting is involved. However, if you want to have a little practice, there is plenty of time to guide you through the cutting technique. And if you’re not new to glass fusing, then feel free to be as creative as you wish!
There will also be time to make a little extra something - perhaps a pendant, a key ring, or a mini hanging piece - I will bring some examples to help you decide.
Your finished pieces will be fired in my kiln and returned within 7 days to the venue for collection.
Tea/coffee and biscuits are provided to fuel your creativity!
Knowledge required
No prior knowledge of glass fusing is required, making this workshop perfect for beginners.

What you'll get
All necessary tools and materials are provided. Your glass creations will be fused in my kiln, and the finished items can be collected from the venue 7 days later.

What to bring
Photos/screenshots of any ideas you have (however this isn’t essential as I will provide examples and suggestions).

I’m Sue and my story with glass starts in a very similar way to yours if you are searching here with an interest in glass fusing. I tried a glass taster workshop at the school where I worked and was hooked! I dabbled, I made pieces for friends and then took a deep breath and bought a kiln! Fast forward five years, and here I am sharing my love for glass with others in my workshops, while remembering my beginnings and allowing you to take it at your pace with as much support as you need.
My inspiration is colour! My favourites are blues and greens but glass is sensational in any colour and when it comes out of the kiln, the end result always makes me smile.
