Hey, I’m Saami the artist behind Customs by Saami. What started in 2020 as a creative side project has grown into a five-year journey of turning everyday items into bespoke pieces that tell a story.

I fell in love with customising because of the way it brings personality to the ordinary, transforming shoes, leather goods, and accessories into something that feels uniquely yours. Over the years, I’ve refined my techniques, exploring colour, texture, and design to create pieces that capture a sense of joy and individuality.

My work is all about evoking that childlike excitement, the feeling of unwrapping something made just for you. After spending time as an artist in residence on Oxford Street, I realised how much I missed connecting with people on a more personal level. That experience inspired me to start venturing into the world of workshops, hoping to share that same sense of creativity and connection with others. It’s my way of building a community of people who love to experiment, express themselves, and celebrate the art of making.

For me, customising isn’t just about paint, it’s about storytelling, self-expression, and bringing a bit of magic into the everyday.
