Steve called out to my house today for a 3-4 hour lesson on BIR curry making he brought every single item that was needed and was extremely friendly and like me very talkative, he is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to indian cuisine and was able to answer all the questions that i put to him, we had plenty of time to cover the preperation and making of the Base gravy Steve also took me step by step through the preperation and making of curries which turned out great (see photo) all in all fantastic day would definitely recomend.

What a great way to spend a few hours on a Sunday afternoon!
From the moment I arrived, I felt really well looked after. Steve’s assistant had the teas and coffees on the go, and the whole atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming from the start.
Steve himself was very amiable and helpful — just a genuinely nice bloke. He was happy to chat about everyone’s individual cooking experience and what they were hoping to get from the course. Questions were always thoughtfully answered, with plenty of useful suggestions and tips along the way.
I’ve been dabbling in BIR cooking for a few years now, yet I still came away having learned some great new tips and techniques. Best of all, the balti we cooked was wonderful — exactly the sort of flavour I’ve been trying to recreate at home.
The class was very relaxed and friendly. All the spices and liquid ingredients had been prepared in advance and portioned out for each table, leaving us to chop the onion and chicken, slice the pepper and chillies, and prepare the salad. Vegetarian alternatives were also available.
Steve cooked alongside us in the centre of the class, so it was simply a case of following his lead. We started by cooking the rice and leaving it to rest, then flame-grilled some papadums before moving on to the balti itself. Throughout the cooking, Steve regularly walked around the room checking everyone’s progress and answering questions while somehow still keeping tabs on his own cooking!
Once the balti was finished and the salad prepared, it was time to enjoy the results. You could either sit down and eat your meal there or take it home, with takeaway containers provided.
To sum up, this was a really enjoyable and informative course that I’d strongly recommend. It doesn’t matter whether you’re completely new to cooking or already a dab hand — there’s something here for everyone to enjoy and learn from.

Steve was welcoming and encouraging, frequently circulating round the attendees to check on an individual's process and answer any queries. He gave frequent tips about ingredients and tweaking cooking as the meal progressed.
The venue was airy and pleasant. Given the acoustics, and the understandable level of noise associated with attendees using a metal spoon to stir ingredients in a balti dish, it would have been useful if Steve had a microphone.

I had a fantastic day out at Steve's Balti cooking class. Steve was very knowledgeable and very willing to pass on his vast Knowledge. We cooked a starter in an aluminium pan then a main meal in the Balti. We had a great time on this Art of Perfect Pizza Cookery Class. Steve, our teacher was enthusiastic and his obvious love of pizza making shone through. We learnt how to make the dough, receiving some good tips for rolling it out and adding toppings, before cooking our own pizzas in the pizza oven. We had enough dough to make 4 pizzas so there was plenty to eat and plenty to take home with us. I would recommend this class to anyone looking to learn/improve their pizza skills. The class was a birthday present for my husband (we, the rest of the family, tagged along as we thought it would be more fun that way - and it was), he had bought a pizza oven a year previously and the results were varied but now we can look forward to some perfectly tasty homemade pizzas.

I was looking for something a bit different to celebrate my Big Birthday and after seeing all his 5 star reviews, asked Steve if he could do a version of his Authentic Indian Cookery experience for a private party. Right from the outset I was impressed by Steve's prompt and friendly communication.
Steve was very flexible finding the perfect venue for us, and was easily able to accommodate the 3 veggies amongst us (butter paneer is now my favourite dish - who knew!).
On the day, all 13 of us had our own workstation already laid out for us, with all the equipment we needed and the ingredients measured out in containers. Steve took us through the cooking instructions one step at a time, which ensured nobody got left behind - pretty impressive when you consider the wide range of cooking experience amongst the 13 of us! Steve circulated round the kitchen to offer encouragement and advice - he even gave out his version of a 'Hollywood handshake'!
By the end of the session we had each produced a main course, basmati rice and salad that you'd e happy to get from your favourite takeaway - which we promptly sat down to eat together. Steve even sent us the recipes and instructions so we can recreate the taste at home.
From the initial contact through to eating the results of our efforts, Steve was friendly and professional. We learned a lot and had a lot of fun too! Steve's enthusiasm for cooking is infectious. Would definitely book again, and highly recommend if you're looking for a party with a difference!! Thanks Steve for making my big birthday so memorable!

Loved this experience. This was my present from my daughter. Nice warm welcome with a hot drink. Plenty of explanation of what we will be cooking. The class was a good pace and class size not too big. The instructor was approachable and very knowledgeable. He kept checking our progress to see if we were all at the same levels. Brilliant class! Steve is genuinely lovely and his passion is clearly reflected in his teaching from start to finish. Everyone in the class can work at your own pace which is great if you’re a beginner or not completely confident. What a great class: the art of perfect pizza cooking. Well, you don't just cook - you create! From a dough, to a your topping in2 the oven and out again... consume your brilliant pizza.
Steve guides you through all aspects in a gentle manner. No flashy, gimmicky techniques plain and simple. Ending in you consuming your delicious creation.
Why did I attend? The dough... it's all about the dough! I've been trying to create my own pizzas at home, but I just couldn't get to grips with the fundamental dough. I watched Jamie and others in YTube. All telling me how simple it is, but it wasn't for me. In steps Steve and guess what... it is made simple. Brilliant and the course has delivered everything I wanted.
This is a great course Steve is superb... go for it if your looking to develop your 'pizza' techniques.
