Struggling to find the perfect backpack to complete your signature style? Learn to create your own DIY accessories from scratch with this fun craft workshop in Cardiff.
Led by a friendly local designer, this beginner-friendly class will guide you step-by-step through the process of creating your own backpack using a selection of reclaimed leather, professional tools and your new skills!
You'll get to fully embrace your creative side by customising your design and choosing any finishing touches, meaning your completed backpack will be truly unique and an amazing testament to your crafting abilities.
Over the two-day course you will:
- Design your bag.
- Learn about cutting patterns.
- Choose your leather.
- Use new tools.
- Learn basic sewing techniques.
- Fit hardware.
- Make and fix your straps.
By the end of the two-day workshop, you'll have a whole host of new skills to help with your future DIY projects and a beautifully handcrafted backpack to show to your loved ones.

Some preparation is required to ensure that the bags can be finished within the time frame, a discussion about ideas will take place before the workshop.

Hi! I'm Eli, a designer-maker and the founder of Love and Salvage, a brand that transforms waste leather into beautiful handmade accessories. Our mission is to use what we have to create fun and functional accessories, keeping potential waste out of the landfill and in circulation for as long as possible.
I run workshops for anyone that is interested in creating their own designs, no matter the skill level - complete beginners are welcome! Classes are kept small, with lots of guidance and one-to-one support. You'll learn all about patterns, work with different materials and get to grips with a variety of tools. The workshops are a friendly ethical way to get into leather crafting. So please get in touch if you would like to do a workshop or have a project idea in mind.
