What you'll do

Learn how to make a delightful fabric advent calendar at this festive sewing class.

Guided by an experienced sewing teacher, you'll use a sewing machine to learn how to cut and sew advent calendar pockets, add wadding and backing, incorporate hanging loops and bind the finished piece.

Your completed advent calendar will make a gorgeous Christmas addition to your home and a beautiful heirloom to pass down for future generations.

You'll need to know how to use a sewing machine to take this class, but you need no prior of experience of making an advent calendar as your teacher will take you through this process in a series of steps.

After you've made your fabric, calendar you can add some extra flair with beading or embroidery to make it extra special to you.

Please note: this class is for those aged 16 and over only.

Knowledge required

Some previous sewing experience and the ability to use a sewing machine.

If you are new to sewing, you may not complete the whole project in the workshop but your teacher will give you all the instructions you need to finish it off at home.

Sew Creative is a sewing school and fabric shop, based in Altrincham, South Manchester. From our humble beginnings when we rented a table in the local haberdashery store, we have now grown to be in our own high street location, offering not only a range of beautiful fabrics, but also sewing classes for everyone aged 6+.

Our sessions are all small and welcoming — haven’t sewn since high school? Don't worry, absolutely no prior sewing experience is required, as the classes are tailored towards you, and are therefore suitable for absolute beginners and advanced seamstresses alike. When we’re not teaching our regular classes, we are hosting birthday parties, hen parties and baby showers, as well as kids holiday clubs and adult seasonal workshops.

We also sell a range of gorgeous fabrics, sourcing across Europe to bring you seasonal, fashion forward fabric, as well as a range of fabulous independent pattern brands.

At Sew Creative, we pride ourselves on our friendly, open and passionate approach. So whether you are coming to stock up your fabric stash, or you are attending a class, we look forward to seeing you soon!
