This online class will connect you with a friendly expert teacher, who'll guide you on a virtual experience that will help you master the basic techniques of puppet fabrication. You'll design and build your figure from scratch and get hands-on with every stage of the creative process.
During the course you'll learn:
- How to design, plan, size and build wire armature.
- How to fill and shape your puppet.
- How to design, rig, sculpt, paint and create jointed, rigged shoes for animation with tie-downs.
- How to create rig points for your puppet for animation, running, walking and jump cycles.
- How to create replacement limbs and head.
- How to create eyes and eyelids that you can animate.
- How to create mouth replacements for lip-synching.
- How to add hair to the head, shape, style and treat for animation.
- How to draw up clothing patterns.
- How to make replacement hands and rig hands for movement.
It doesn't matter if it's your first time checking out crafts for adults, this puppet making course is a completely beginner-friendly experience that will develop your skills from the ground up.

Ctrl + Art + Dlt is run by Jennifer Kidd, an art director and model maker with years of experience in puppet fabrication. She has previously worked on some great stop motion animation productions such as Chuck Steel: Night of the Trampires, Isle of Dogs, Norman Picklestripes and fast-paced commercial animations and music videos such as Rag’n’Bone Man.
Since the beginning of lockdown, Jennifer has adapted her lessons in puppet fabrication to take place entirely over Zoom and caters for students worldwide.
