Sgraffito Hand-built Mugs Masterclass

Do you fancy getting creative and making something that you can actually use? This workshop in Cheshire is perfect for you. Hosted on a working farm by an experienced potter, you'll learn all the skills you need to make a pair of beautiful hand-built mugs that'll look incredible in any home.

During this workshop you will be taught the hand-building techniques to produce a pair of matching slab-built mugs producing a range of items that will look stunning in your home. Once these have become leather-hard your tutor will show you how to add an underglaze to provide colour to the surface decoration. You will then be shown how to carve a simple sgraffito design through the underglaze.

Whether you're a complete beginner or have some experience, you'll find tailored tuition that'll make crafting your vase relaxing and enjoyable. You'll leave with all the new skills you've learned, eagerly anticipating your finished vase coming back from its firing.

Following the course, your work will be bisque fired and then clear glazed before a final firing. Your pottery will be available for collection 3 weeks after the course. During term time we are at the studio each Wednesday morning (10am - 12noon), Thursday afternoon (2-4pm) and Thursday evening (6.30-8.30pm). Please call in at any of these times to collect your pottery.

This workshop is suitable for beginners and more experienced potters.
  All materials and tools to make a pair of mugs to be collected three weeks after the class.
  Please feel free to bring inspiration for your sgraffito design such as line drawings or photographs of sgraffito or lino prints.
