What you'll do
Join us in Margate for an August essential oil candle-making workshop.
August workshops are a relaxed introduction to using essential oils and natural wax to create botanical candles. We will guide you through experimenting with the oils to make a bespoke scent blend before hand-pouring your own candle to take home.
We will also discuss why we prefer using natural ingredients in the home, the difference between fragrance and essential oils, different wax types, and how scent stimulates the olfactory system, evoking memories and helping to create new ones. We will also provide candle care tips.
We like our workshops to be welcoming and inclusive, so if you have any requests, sensory preferences, or need more detailed information, just send me a message in advance - I'll be happy to accommodate. Please also note that the workshops take place in queer-friendly spaces.

Welcome, beginners to intermediates!
What you'll get
You will make a 120ml candle scented with your own blend of essential oils. We do offer different sizes and vessels, so please get in touch prior to the workshop to discuss if you would like to explore options (which may incur an additional cost).
What to bring
I will provide all the materials and equipment you need to create your own botanical candle. You are welcome to bring along drinks, and if you're a private group, feel free to bring a playlist.

This class is great for individuals and couples as well as for a team building activity, birthday or hen do.

We run Essential Oil Candle Workshops from our shop in Margate and studio at Hackney Downs Studios, East London.
My grandparent Sylvia introduced me to candle making when i was younger, then ten years ago I revisited what she had taught me when I discovered how hard it was to find truly natural candles without any synthetic fragrances for my own home. So i honed the craft and developed my own range of natural candles scented exclusively with pure essential oils with my first brand Milkwood. I have enjoyed teaching candle making for the last 8 years and take pride in creating a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere in our workshops.
The August shop, our space in Margate's handsome Old Town also sells a concise selection of home goods, books and printed matter inspired by art, nature and queer culture.
